Recent concern for the adverse effects from neonicotinoid insecticides has centered on risk for insect pollinators in general and bees specifically. However, natural resource managers are also concerned about the risk of neonicotinoids to conservation efforts for the monarch butterfly (Danaus plexippus) and need a tool to estimate risk for wild monarch butterflies exposed to clothianidin. In the present study, monarch butterfly larvae were exposed to contaminated milkweed plants from hatch until pupation, and the effects upon larval survival, larval growth, pupation success, and adult mass were measured. Soils dosed with a granular insecticide product lead to average clothianidin concentrations of 10.8 - 843 ng/g...

This dataset consists of 262 variables which describe various known and suspected point and non-point sources of contaminants and endocrine disrupting compounds (EDCs) throughout the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. Contaminant data was summarized to the NHDPlus Version 2.1 catchment level (1:100K). Contaminant data summarized span a time range of 2001 to 2016 and include regulated facilities, pesticides, manure and biosolids application data, mercury deposition, animal feeding applications, septic systems, landfills, and land use and land cover. These data are presented in a comma separated file, which includes all variables summarized and the NHDPlus Version 2.1 FEATUREID field (also known as COMID). The FEATUREID field...

Discharge Monitoring Report (DMR),
Incedental wastewater reuse from streams that receive discharges from Wastewater Treatment Facilities (WWTF) has the potential to be a significant contributor of Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals. An ArcGIS model of WWTFs, NHDPlus Version 2 stream networks (USGS and EPA 2012), and gage stations across the Shenandoah River watershed was created to calculate accumulated wastewater in percent of streamflow (ACCWW%) and Predicted Environmental Concentrations (PECs) of select constituents. Virginia and West Virginia Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (VPDES, WVPDES) discharge facilities, outfall locations, and stream gages were spatially joined to the nearest river segment. Wastewater inputs from outfall locations were...
