The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the Natural Resources Department of the Bad River Band of the Lake Superior Chippewa Tribe, conducted a study of the extent of flooding near the community of Odanah, Wisconsin, caused by the July 11, 2016 storm event in northern Wisconsin and the Bad River Reservation. Immediately after the flooding, the USGS and the Bad River Natural Resources Department documented 108 high-water marks (HWM) in the Odanah area. The HWMs were used to create flood-inundation maps to support the response and recovery operations.
