This page allows you to search all of the reports and publications published in the scientific and technical reporting series by ADF&G's Commercial Fisheries, Sport Fish, and Subsistence divisions. There are three approaches you can use for searching these publications - The first two search through data fields in our publications database and the third will search through the text of the PDF documents themselves. Each method offers distinct advantages - roll the cursor over each search type to find out more!

In 1994, the Alaska Legislature passed legislation directing the Board of Game to identify big game prey populations where "intensive management" (IM) would be used to attain and sustain high levels of harvest. The IM law specifically provides for active management of predators and habitat, but thus to mention that antlerless hunts are key to achieving high levels of harvest. We discuss IM for moose in Game Management Unit (GMU) 20A through 2005, because GMU 20A has a unique history of predator management and currently supports the highest moose density for any equivalent-sized area in Alaska. Moose numbers in GMU 20A exceeded the IM population objectives beginning in 1999, but the IM harvest objectives were not...
This information sheet reviews the 2001 season and describes the anticipated management
As anadromous Chinook salmon Oncorhynchus tshawytscha bound for U.S. and Canadian spawning grounds migrate through the U.S. portion of the Yukon River, they are targeted by several fisheries. To fulfill treaty obligations between the two countries, fishery managers need to know what portion of fish caught in the United States are of Canadian origin. Allozyme markers have been used to assign individuals in mixed fishery samples to U.S. and Canadian portions of the Yukon River; however, these markers are limited by sampling difficulties and by the number of available loci. Microsatellite DNA markers have been considered as an alternative; however, microsatellite data are not readily transportable among laboratories...
Report is divided into two major sections. In the first section, an overiew of the Delta area is provided. Included is a description of the Delta, Board of Fisheries activities, and information pertaining to management, stocking, research, and access program activities. In the second section, a more detailed summary of each fishery is provided, including management concerns identified. Included in these summaries are: a fishery description; fishery management objectives; a description of recent performance of the fishery; a description of recent Board of Fishery actions related to the fishery, a discussion of social or biological issues that may be associated with each fishery, a summary of current research and...
The zonal travel cost method is used to estimate the net economic value (consumer surplus) of the Copper River basin personal use and subsistence fisheries
Alaska salmon fisheries contribute millions of dollars to the state economy annually and provide Alaskans with a valuable food source. To allow fisheries user groups the greatest possible harvest without jeopardizing long-term sustainability, the Alaska Department of Fish and Game relies on its Fisheries Sonar Program to provide timely information about salmon run strength. Lists sonar sites

Report is divided into two sections. In Section I, an introductory overview of the Northern Cook Inlet Management Area is presented, including: a general geographic and organizational description of the management area; an inventory of the available fishery resources; an overview of the Alaska Board of Fisheries processes; existing management plans; a historical perspective of recreational angler effort, catch and harvest; and an approximation of the economic value of the recreational fisheries. A general description of research, management and educational activities, ongoing access programs, and a summary of the current major biological and social issues in the management area are also presented. In Section II,...
