This dataset consists of 102 magnetotelluric (MT) stations collected in 2012-2014 in the Rio Grande Rift and southern Rocky Mountains. The U.S. Geological Survey acquired these data to improve regional conductivity models of the western United States. This work is in support of studies of the effect of lithospheric modification on electrical resistivity structure and tectonic evolution of the western United States.

Digitization of a selection of oil and gas well pad sites in the Piceance region of Western Colorado. A random sample of 146 pad locations from the "Digitized Piceance Oil and Gas Pads of Western Colorado, 2015" were used to identify the locations digitized in this dataset. The 146 polygons spatially intersect polygons in the 2015 shape file, but are not completely contained within the 2015 polygons. Well pad sites were delineated using a modified version of the Rapid Land Cover Mapping protocol (Preston and Kim, 2016). The base imagery used to delineate boundaries is the 2005 National Agriculture Imagery Program (NAIP) imagery. Preston, Todd M, and Kevin Kim. 2016. “Land Cover Changes Associated with Recent Energy...

The 'Unaweep Copper District' file is part of the Grover Heinrichs mining collection. Grover was the Vice President of Heinrichs GEOEXploration, located in Tucson, Arizona. The collection contains over 1,400 folders including economic geology reports, maps, photos, correspondence, drill logs and other related materials. The focus of much of the information is on the western United States, particularly Arizona, but the collection also includes files on mining activity throughout the United States, foreign countries, and 82 mineral commodities.
These are shapefiles and ARC/INFO polygon coverages showing the isopachs of total net coal in beds greater than or equal to 1 ft thick for the Cameo/Fairfield coal group and for the Cameo/Wheeler, South Canyon, and Coal Ridge coal zones, southern Piceance Basin coal assessment area. Also included are isopachs of total net coal in beds 1-2.3 ft thick, 2.3-3.5, 3.5-7.0, and 7.0-14, and greater than 14 ft thick in the Cameo/Wheeler coal zone.

This dataset contains cross-section surveys of the Gunnison River at Colorado Department of Transportation bridges I-04-K and I-03-A, western Colorado, 2016–17. The surveys were performed using a combination of: Trimble R8 Real-Time Kinematic Global Navigation Satellite System (RTK-GNSS) receiver, a USGS bridge crane with sounding weights, and optical levels. During surveys performed in 2016, a base was established at each bridge using the RTK-GNSS equipment. Subsequent surveys of channel geometry were performed using optical levels for ground surface observations above the water line and sounding weights for streambed observations below the water line, referenced to the base established in 2016. Streambed elevations...

This is a shape file and coverage of the top of the Rollins Sandstone Member. It outlines the area underlain by the coal-bearing Cameo/Fairfield coal group in the southern Piceance Basin coal assessment area. Also, it delimits the area within which resources were calculated and reported in the southern Piceance Basin coal assessment area. The polygon was adjusted to match the topography of the DEM.

This is a shapefile and point coverage of 627 data points used in the assessment of coal in the southern Piceance Basin study area. Information in this file includes x, y location and point identifier. Lithologic and stratigraphic data and the geographic distribution of coal are based on our interpretations of geophysical logs from 526 drill holes as well as published lithologic descriptions from 31 coal exploration holes and 70 published stratigraphic sections described from outcrops.

Forty samples of outcropping rock samples were collected from the Permian Cutler Formation exposed in the Sinbad Valley, Mesa County, Colorado by USGS volunteer Jon Thorson. This sample set includes 13 pairs of co-existing red unaltered and yellow-grey bleached sandstone. The decimal latitude and longitude locations of the sample collection sites are listed in the “All_Rock_Data” worksheet in the accompanying “All_Sinbad_Rocks” workbook. The samples were collected from rocks exposed on the eastern edge of a breached salt-cored anticline within about 1 to 100 meters from an active seep from which sulfurous brines supply water to Salt Creek. The co-existing red/bleached samples were collected within the same stratigraphic...

The U.S. Geological Survey developed a coupled groundwater and surface-water flow (GSFLOW) model to represent the aquifers of the Colorado Plateau and Upper Colorado River Basin. The study area covers approximately 142,000 square miles and includes parts of Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming. To support this modeling effort, groundwater well withdrawal volume data were needed from January 01, 1980 to September 30, 2022. These data were retrieved from online state databases. In addition to withdrawal-volume data, well-construction data including depths and/or perforated casing intervals were recorded when available from the databases and/or scanned driller’s logs. Arizona groundwater-withdrawal volume...
These data are records collected from an automated weather station and four stand-alone tipping bucket rain gauges each with their own data logger that were in operation between February 2005 and December 2023 in the Badger Wash Study Area near Mack, Colorado as part of a larger project funded by the Bureau of Land Management. These files are hourly-interval data from the automated weather station with meteorological parameters of air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, wind direction, wind gusts, photon flux density and rainfall as well as from a soil pit with temperature and soil moisture measurements at 5, 10, 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100 cm deep. The standalone tipping-bucket rain gauge data which records...
