These data were compiled to accompany flow modeling work on Little Colorado river above the mouth (USGS gage 09402300). The data include topographic data collected by LIDAR and total station in June 2017, high water marks from nine historic floods, and control points and gage structures. Topographic data include ground topography collected by LIDAR and channel bathymetry collected by total station survey of a 2500 meter reach of the Little Colorado River ending near the confluence with the Colorado River. High water mark data were collected by USGS personnel using total station surveys and are divided into nine distinct sets based on elevation profile.
Capture, GPS-collar tagging, and release of cougars was conducted in northern Arizona and southern Utah and Nevada, USA, from 2003 to 2013 by the U.S. Geological Survey and the National Park Service (Northern Arizona University IACUC Protocol # 02-082-R4), resulting in GPS-tracking and monitoring of study animal activities. This data set includes six individuals that met three criteria: 1) few missing data (≥ 85% fix success rate), 2) long periods of continuous monitoring, with a minimum of 1000 observations, and 3) established home range with no evidence of dispersal. This collection contains numerous zoological specimens from the southwestern United States. Specimens were collected beginning in the 1920s through 2013 and include mammals, fish, birds, amphibians, and reptiles. This is a legacy collection that was transferred to the USGS from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) in 1996 when the unit that would become the Biological Resources Division became part of the USGS. Specimens were accessioned as museum property in 2002, 2003, and 2006. The collection contains voucher specimens of vertebrates collected on Federal land in the western United States.
