Data presented are results of surveys for California gnatcatchers and vegetation sampling conducted in 2015, 2016, and 2020 to address two inter-related questions: (1) How have gnatcatchers and their habitat recovered in areas burned by wildfires in 2003, 2007, and 2014?, and (2) What is the current regional occupancy of gnatcatchers throughout their southern California range? Data for the post-fire study were collected in 2015, 2016, and 2020, while the regional occupancy survey was conducted in 2016, and 2020. This project has two goals: Goal 1: The goal of this project is to conduct a statistically rigorous study of occupancy to determine the post-fire recovery of gnatcatchers and coastal sage scrub vegetation with the goal of informing management before, during, and after fire. Goal 2: The goal of this project is to conduct rangewide surveys to determine California Gnatcatcher occupancy at a regional scale. Surveys were conducted at locations along Cottonwood Creek, Tijuana River, and the San Luis Rey River, and nest monitoring was performed at three locations along the San Luis Rey River downstream of Lake Henshaw (Cleveland National Forest, Rey River Ranch, Vista Irrigation District). The success of carbon capture, storage and sequestration as a greenhouse gas mitigation strategy will be, in part, dependent on the regulatory framework used to govern its implementation. Creating a science-based regulatory framework that is designed with enough flexibility to encourage greenhouse gas offset activity, effective means of measuring the costs of taking action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and ample protection for human and ecosystem health may prove challenging. For the purposes of this paper we will assume that there is an existing incentive to capture, store and sequester carbon and focus on how to regulate the process. This dataset consists of responses to a standardized, web-based survey of project principle investigators, end-users, and SE CASC leadership. 31 project PIs responded (97% response rate). We then surveyed potential users of the 28 remaining projects using Qualtrics and SE CASC leadership to garner information about project use. Potential users included employees from federal agencies, state agencies, universities, and nongovernmental organizations. From the 28 projects, we sent surveys to 208 users, of which, 81 responded (39% response rate) from 22 projects. This dataset contains zooplankton species distribution and abundance data collected in the Chukchi Sea during the August 2017 Arctic Marine Biodiversity Observing Network (AMBON) research cruise. The dataset is a comma separate values file (csv) exported from a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. The data include the location, date, time, depth, abundance and biomass of zooplankton collected during the 2017 AMBON cruise. Abstract: Environmental DNA (eDNA) is DNA that has been released by an organism into its environment, such that the DNA can be found in air, water, or soil. In aquatic systems, eDNA has been shown to provide a sampling approach that is more sensitive for detecting target organisms faster, and less expensively than previous approaches. However, eDNA needs to be sampled in a manner that has been tested and found effective and, because single copies of target DNA are detected reliably, rigorous procedures must be designed to avoid sample contamination. A sequence of images were captured automatically from trail cameras placed at three locations along the Lake Sharpe Shoreline near Lower Brule, South Dakota. The images were reviewed, and the best daylight image from each day was selected. The daily images were then displayed sequentially and recorded at 10 frames per second, creating a time-lapse video. The still images and videos in this dataset provide cues to what factors affected shoreline erosion in the camera field of view. Bats utilizing water sources within plateau forests were surveyed at 24 sites in southern and central Utah. Fourteen taxa were captured, with eight of these formerly listed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service as Category 2 species. During autumn 2009 and winter 2010, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), conducted a hydrographic survey using a multibeam echosounder system (MBES). The survey was from river mile (RM) 130 to 142 on the Snake River, and from RM 0 to 2 on the Clearwater River areas of Lower Granite Reservoir. The survey mapped the part of the river that was accessible to the boat and the echosounder equipment, but very shallow areas along the banks that were inaccessible or too shallow to be measured with echosounder equipment were not mapped. Data presented are results of surveys and monitoring in 2017 for San Diego Cactus Wren (Campylorhynchus brunneicapillus) in southern San Diego County. Surveys were conducted at 362 plots. Plots were surveyed twice in 2017 and the number, age (adult or juvenile), banding status (color banded or not), breeding status (paired, unpaired, or unknown), and nesting status (active nest detected or not) of all wrens recorded. These vector contour lines are derived from the 3D Elevation Program using automated and semi-automated processes. They were created to support 1:24,000-scale CONUS and Hawaii, 1:25,000-scale Alaska, and 1:20,000-scale Puerto Rico / US Virgin Island topographic map products, but are also published in this GIS vector format. Contour intervals are assigned by 7.5-minute quadrangle, so this vector dataset is not visually seamless across quadrangle boundaries. The U.S. Geological Survey conducted a bathymetric survey of a reach of the Deschutes River near Bend, OR, between Benham Falls and Dillon Falls on July 25, 2016, to support research on remote sensing of river discharge and characterization of habitat for amphibians, particularly the Oregon Spotted Frog (Rana pretiosa). The bathymetric survey data were obtained with an ITER Systems Bathyswath-1 468 kHz multi-beam echo sounder deployed from a customized research cataraft.
