This content represents a map displaying the vector data corresponding to the processed datasets for the waterborne resistivity profiling surveys of streams in the Mississippi Alluvial Plain. The .sd file is an ESRI service definition file containing all the data (capatible for use in ESRI ArcDesktop). This file bundle contains 8 shapefiles, each representing an individual stream. These are all displayed in the map service definition. Users can also download the .sd file and extract the content (using 7zip, winzip, etc.) on their local machine to obtain all the stand-alone shapefiles.

Airborne electromagnetic (AEM), magnetic, and radiometric data were acquired in late February to early March 2018 along 2,364 line-kilometers in the Shellmound, Mississippi study area. Data were acquired by CGG Canada Services, Ltd. with three different helicopter-borne sensors: the CGG Canada Services, Ltd. RESOLVE frequency-domain AEM instrument that is used to map subsurface geologic structure at depths up to 100 meters, depending on the subsurface resistivity; a Scintrex CS-3 cesium vapor magnetometer that detects changes in deep (hundreds of meters to kilometers) geologic structure based on variations in the magnetic properties of different formations; and a Radiation Solutions RS-500 spectrometer that detects...

Shallow soil characteristics were mapped near Shellmound, Mississippi, using the DualEM 421 electromagnetic sensor in October 2018. Data were acquired by towing the DualEM sensor on a wheeled cart behind an ATV, with the sensor at a height of 0.432 m above the ground surface. Approximately 175 line-kilometers of data were acquired over an area of nearly four square kilometers, with 25 m separation between survey lines. Data were manually edited for noise sources such as powerlines or other buried structures, and averaged to regular output soundings every 5 m along survey lines. The processed data were inverted to recover models of electrical resistivity structure as a function of depth at each sounding location...

Towed and floating transient electromagnetic (tTEM and FloaTEM) data were acquired within the Mississippi Alluvial plain during March and October 2018. During the land-based tTEM and water-borne FloaTEM surveys, approximately 51 total line-kilometers were collected using the tTEM system near Shellmound and Vicksburg, and approximately 274 line kilometers were collected using the FloaTEM system on Eutah Bend Lake, Little Tallahatchie River, Sunflower River, and the Ouachita River. Data were collected by members of the U.S. Geological Survey, Hydrogeophysics Branch and Lower Mississippi Gulf Water Science Center offices, and the HydroGeophysics Group at Aarhus University in Denmark. tTEM and FloaTEM data at these...

This data release consists of two different datasets, waterborne resistivity profiling data and water quality data collected during profiling. In fresh water aquifers, the geoelectric resistivity of earth materials commonly has a positive correlation with hydraulic conductivity. In June 2016, continuous resistivity profiling data were collected, as a proxy for streambed hydraulic conductivity, along selected reaches of three rivers in the Delta region of Mississippi. A total of 180 kilometers (km) of continuous resistivity profiles were collected during a two-week span, with 50 km on the Quiver River, 70 km on the Sunflower River, and 60 km on the Tallahatchie River. These river reaches were selected due to groundwater...

Airborne electromagnetic (AEM), magnetic, and radiometric data were acquired November 2018 to February 2019 along 16,816 line-kilometers (line-km) over the Mississippi Alluvial Plain (MAP). Data were acquired by CGG Canada Services, Ltd. with three different helicopter-borne sensors: the CGG Canada Services, Ltd. Resolve frequency-domain AEM instrument that is used to map subsurface geologic structure at depths up to 100 meters, depending on the subsurface resistivity; a Scintrex CS-3 cesium vapor magnetometer that detects changes in deep (hundreds of meters to kilometers) geologic structure based on variations in the magnetic properties of different formations; and a Radiation Solutions RS-500 spectrometer that...

This data release has three components for each of the eight stream lengths: 1) a geospatial dataset of the processed data; 2) tabular data of the processed waterborne resistivity profiling data and associated water-quality data; 3) tabular data of the raw waterborne resistivity data and associated water-quality data. In fresh water aquifers, the geoelectric resistivity of earth materials commonly has a positive correlation with hydraulic conductivity (Faye and Smith, 1994). Throughout 2017, continuous resistivity profiling data were collected, as a proxy for streambed hydraulic conductivity, along reaches of eight streams in the Mississippi Alluvial Plain of Mississippi, Arkansas, and Missouri. A total of...

Floating transient electromagnetic (FloaTEM) data were acquired on the Tallahatchie River during October 2018. During the survey, approximately 18.3 line-kilometers were collected in the Shellmound, Mississippi study area. Data were collected by members of the U.S. Geological Survey, Hydrogeophysics Branch, Lower-Mississippi Gulf Science Center and the Aarhus University HydroGeophysics Group. FloaTEM data acquired along the Tallahatchie River in Leflore County, in Mississippi, were collected to characterize the subsurface resistivity structure in support of a U.S. Geological Survey groundwater investigation of the Mississippi Alluvial Plain. FloaTEM data were collected using an Aarhus University HydroGeophysics Group...
