Background information.— Noxious and invasive weeds can destroy wildlife habitat, reduce opportunities for recreational activities, decrease plant and animal diversity, and cause loss of productivity for private landowners. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Ely Field Office was awarded funding for the Steptoe Valley Weed Inventory, Education, and Treatment Project through the Southern Nevada Public Lands Management Act, which allows the U.S. Department of the Interior to utilize revenue from the sale of Federal land in Nevada for restoration projects.
