The Captain Jack Superfund site near Ward, Colorado hosts extensive interconnected underground mine workings, which drain via the Big Five Adit. Drainage from the adit has historically been acidic with elevated concentrations of metals. In 2018 the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) utilized a subsurface remediation strategy consisting of the installation of a hydraulic bulkhead within the workings to preclude drainage out of the mine. Shallow subsurface electrical conductivity was mapped at selected U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service managed lands in northeast Montana and northwest North Dakota using the DUALEM421 electromagnetic sensor (Dualem, Inc., ON, Canada) in the winters of 2017 and 2018. Data were acquired by towing the DUALEM421 sensor on a sled behind an all-terrain vehicle or snow machine, with the sensor at a nominal height of 0.3 meters (m) above ground surface. An extensive archive, estimated to contain more than 3,500 historical (1925–2020) geophysical logs collected in conjunction with past studies conducted by various entities, and more than 2,000 additional donated well and geophysical logs are stored in hard-copy at the Central Texas Branch of the Oklahoma-Texas Water Science Center (OTWSC) located in Austin, Texas. This dataset addresses the need to preserve these records electronically by providing a scanned and indexed collection of 6,058 of these records in Portable Document Format (PDF) along with a public Microsoft Access database and comma-separated values (CSV) text file containing detailed well header information for each record.
