Low-altitude aerial images were taken over an area of the Potomac River in Brunswick, Maryland using 3DR Solo unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) on October 22, 2019. The imagery was collected for the purpose of evaluating UAS assessment of river habitat data such as water depth, substrate type, and water clarity. Some photographs contain black and white targets used as ground control points (GCPs), which were surveyed by a field crew with a high-precision (GNSS) Global Navigation Satellite System and/or containing internal post processing kinematic (PPK) GPS system. This data release contains the csv files containing the latitude and longitude coordinates, in Universal Transverse Mercator Zone 18N referenced to the...

Images were collected using a remotely piloted unoccupied aerial system (UAS) over the bluffs of the eastern shore of Lake Michigan in Ludington, MI, a rural natural area to assess land changes. The digital imagery was collected with the internal camera of a DJI Phantom 3 PRO for 2019 data and DJI Phantom 4 PRO for 2021 data that was operated by the University of Toledo. The images cover an extent between north of Chauvez Rd. to the south and north of W. Bradshaw Rd. to the north. Images were collected to monitor active bluff erosion in the area. The images are presented here in zipped files grouped by type of collection, nadir and oblique and survey date. The images were collected in .jpg format with red, green,...

The data in this release map Marconi Beach, Head of the Meadow Beach, and Nauset Light Beach, in Cape Cod National Seashore (CACO), Massachusetts, before and after Hurricane Lee in September 2023. U.S Geological Survey personnel conducted field surveys to collect topographic data using global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) at all three beaches. In addition, at Nauset Light Beach, an uncrewed aerial system (UAS) was used to collect images with a Ricoh GRII camera for use in structure from motion photogrammetry. High-precision GNSS targets (AeroPoints) were used as ground control points (GCPs) for the UAS photogrammetry. Agisoft Metashape (v. 2.0.1) software was used to create a digital surface model and an orthomosaic...

In support of U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Southwest Biological Science Center researchers, and in coordination with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and National Ecological Observatory Network (NEON), the USGS National Uncrewed Systems Office (NUSO) conducted uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS) remote sensing flights over two BLM Assessment, Inventory, and Monitoring (AIM) plots at the NEON Moab site in Utah for multi-scale carbon sequestration research on public lands. The UAS data collected include natural color, multispectral, and hyperspectral imagery, and lidar to capture diverse information about vegetation and soils on drylands. The first site (“site 1”) features intact sagebrush and was mapped on May 3,...
