The paper version of the Geologic Map of the eastern part of the Challis National Forest and vicinity, Idaho was compiled by Anna Wilson and Betty Skipp in 1994. The geology was compiled on a 1:250,000 scale topographic base map. TechniGraphic System, Inc. of Fort Collins Colorado digitized this map under contract for N.Shock. G.Green edited and prepared the digital version for publication as a GIS database. The digital geologic map database can be queried in many ways to produce a variety of geologic maps.

The Washington DC Area geologic map database (DCDB) provides geologic map information of areas to the NW, W, and SW of Washington, DC to various professionals and private citizens who have uses for geologic data. Digital, geographically referenced, geologic data is more versatile than traditional hard copy maps, and facilitates the examination of relationships between numerous aspects of the geology and other types of data such as: land-use data, vegetation characteristics, surface water flow and chemistry, and various types of remotely sensed images. This data set contains information on well yield and ancillary information at 7,287 wells in the bedrock aquifer in the Nashoba terrane in central and eastern Massachusetts. Well yield was compiled from records in databases and files of the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection and U.S. Geological Survey. Ancillary data include well depth; bedrock geology, surficial geology, topographic setting, and wetlands at the well location; distance of the well to hydrologic and geologic features; and distance of the well to lineaments. The data in this data release were interpreted in U.S. Geological Survey Scientific-Investigations Report 2012-5155.

This digital geologic map summarizes all available geologic information for the Tetilla Peak quadrangle located immediately southwest of Santa Fe, New Mexico. The geologic map consists of new polygon (geologic map units) and line (contact, fault, fold axis, dike, flow contact, hachure) data, as well as point data (locations for structural measurements, geochemical and geochronologic data, geophysical soundings, and water wells). The Elsinore quadrangle is located in the northern part of the Peninsular Ranges Province and includes parts of two structural blocks, or structural subdivisions of the province. The active Elsinore Fault Zone diagonally crosses the southwest corner of the quadrangle, and is a major element of the right-lateral strike-slip San Andreas Fault system. The Elsinore Fault Zone separates the Santa Ana Mountains block west of the fault zone from the Perris block to the east. The Raton basin is a large asymmetric syncline (2500 mi2 area) that extends from Huerfano Park, Colorado to Cimarron, New Mexico. As used here, the basin is defined by the limits of the outcrop of the Trinidad Sandstone. The Cretaceous and Tertiary rocks are sharply flexed to form hogbacks along the western margin of the basin on the east flank of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. These rocks assume more gentle dips along the other margins of the Raton basin and are highly dissected. The Late Cretaceous in the Raton basin was a period of emergence of land and retreat of the Cretaceous epeiric sea. The geologic map of the Hogback Mountain quadrangle, scale 1:24,000, was made as part of the Montana Investigations Project to provide new information on the stratigraphy, structure, and geologic history of an area in the geologically complex southern part of the Montana disturbed belt. In the Hogback Mountain area, rocks ranging in age from Middle Proterozoic through Cretaceous are strongly folded within and under thrust plates of equivalent rocks. Continental rocks of successive thrust plates have been telescoped eastward over a buttress of the stable continent. This digital map database, compiled from previously published and unpublished data, and new mapping by the authors, represents the general distribution of bedrock and surficial deposits in the mapped area. Together with the accompanying text file (cdbegeo.txt or cdbegeo.ps), it provides current information on the geologic structure and stratigraphy of the area covered. The database delineates map units that are identified by general age and lithology following the stratigraphic nomenclature of the U.S. Geological Survey. The scale of the source maps limits the spatial resolution (scale) of the database to 1:24,000 or smaller.

Polygon coverage for bedrock geologic units.The geologic data was mapped during the summer of 1998 at a scale of1:24,000. The bedrock geology was mapped using standard techniques.Locational information was provided by Rockwell PLGR+96 GPS receiversusing the federal precise positioning service.The line and polygon data were compiled on a mylar greenline of the7.5-minute quadrangle and scanned at 400 dpi on an Anatech Eagle 4080Tscanner. The raster files (TIF) were converted to vector files (DXF)using GTX OSR version 2.0 raster-to-vector conversion software. Thevector files were imported to Arc/Info version 7.0.4.
