The grassland condition index raster data layer assigns to each 30 meter pixel in the GCPO a condition index score generated by the presence or absence of a set of desired conditions such as patch size, vegetation height, etc. This grassland bar code layer indicates which conditions contributed to the index value score, and by how much, by use of a nine-digit code. The digits in the code represent the following input conditions in order: potential for restoration, presence of a grassland ecological system, presence of prairie (a subset of grasslands characterized by the presence or dominance of native vegetation), configuration in a patch > 100 acres, and the four site-level condition endpoints: vegetation height...

EARTH SCIENCE > BIOSPHERE > ECOSYSTEMS,
EARTH SCIENCE > BIOSPHERE > ECOSYSTEMS > TERRESTRIAL ECOSYSTEMS > GRASSLANDS,
The amount, configuration, and condition of grasslands, prairies, and savannas in the Gulf Coastal Plains and Ozarks Landscape Conservation Cooperative (GCPO LCC) was assessed at 30 meter spatial resolution. Each pixel was assigned a score based on a dichotomous decision tree evaluating the following: whether described as a grassland ecological system class, if not, whether potentially restorable to grassland, if grassland, whether dominated by native plants (prairie), whether in a patch >100 acres in size, and whether described as having any of four condition endpoints: vegetation height (> 1 meter), vegetation cover (> 80% herbaceous or < 20% shrub), tree density (< 10 trees per acre), and disturbance pattern...

Priority resources are the set of biological, ecological, and cultural features and ecological processes collaboratively identified as most important or most significant for the focus geography. These resources embody the key components of the Peninsular Florida Landscape Conservation Cooperative (PFLCC) vision, which is a collective vision that reflects the mission, vision, common interests, and values of the focus geography partners. The priority resources are the focus of the PFLCC’s planning, design and implementation of conservation strategies(Benscoter et al. 2015). In Spring 2015, PFLCC’s Steering committee unanimously voted to adopt the SWAP ( the Florida State Wildlife Action Plan) habitats as the basis...

The Blueprint analysis, maps, and data on this site represent the level of value – high or medium – of healthy natural resources and their potential to benefit fish, wildlife and plants. It is part of our effort to reach beyond our Region’s conservation community’s to begin talking with a range of groups about areas that have value for conservation. This information is crafted to help us get a glimpse of the of the Region as we think about emerging trends, better planning and better conversations with everyone who has a stake in what the Southeast Region might look like in 2060. Private lands identified on the map may be good candidates for voluntary conservation programs, which help keep working lands working....
