These NetCDF data were compiled to investigate how two complementary models can contribute to our understanding of contemporary and future big sagebrush regeneration across the historical and potential future sagebrush region. Objective of our study was to apply both models to address three specific objectives: (i) examine the geographic patterns of big sagebrush regeneration probabilities that the two different models project under historical conditions and future climate scenarios; (ii) quantify the robustness of model projections, e.g., the consistency among climate models in projected changes in regeneration for future time periods; and (iii) identify how model predictions for regeneration potential relate to...
These data were compiled to support analysis of remote sensing data using the Disturbance Automated Reference Toolset (Nauman et al., 2017). The objective of our study was to assess results of pinyon and juniper land treatments. These data represent major soil types as defined primarily by soil texture and depth, but also geology, parent material, and geomorphology for relevant features that distinguish major ecological land units. These data were created from field soil descriptions collected in the upper Colorado River watershed mostly since 2000, but include some older data catalogued in USDS Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) databases. These soils data used in model training were collected by NRCS...
The Everglades Vulnerability Analysis (EVA) is a series of connected, modular Bayesian networks that predict the response of several Everglades indicators of ecosystem health to changes in hydrology, salinity, and the landscape. This release provides the code to update the vegetation module of EVA, validate the updated module, and provides the process and outputs of a sensitivity analysis of the module. Key updates include expanding the number of vegetation classes predicted from 6 to 11 classes, simplifying the inputs to the module, and increasing the number of vegetation observations used to parameterize the network. The validation of the module includes the process to calculate receiver operating characteristic...

Saline tidal wetlands are important sites of carbon sequestration and produce negligible methane (CH4) emissions due to regular inundation with sulfate-rich seawater. Yet, widespread management of coastal hydrology has restricted vast areas of coastal wetlands to tidal exchange. These ecosystems often undergo impoundment and freshening, which in turn cause vegetation shifts like invasion by Phragmites, that affect ecosystem carbon balance. Understanding controls of carbon exchange in these understudied ecosystems is critical for informing climate consequences of blue carbon restoration and/or management interventions. Here we present measurements of net ecosystem exchange of carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane, along...
This dataset provides the water content, bulk density, carbon concentrations, nitrogen concentrations, and carbon content of all fourteen cores sampled in coastal Louisiana (CRMS 0224) in October of 2019. Each sample is identified by a unique identifier that corresponds to each site by depth increment combination. The pond age range associated with each site is provided. The depth increment associated with each sample is provided.

(1) Predictor rasters for proportion urban development within 1-km radius, proportion exurban within 1-km radius, vector ruggedness measure (VRM) within 500-m radius, topographic position index (TPI) within 500-m radius. (2) Twenty-nine null models for space use for 29 different golden eagles. (3) Twenty-nine response variable rasters of eagle locations per cell for 29 golden eagles. (4) A raster for predicted population-level probability of habitat selection and contours for predicted population-level probability of habitat selection and contours. These data support the following publication: Tracey,...

As part of the Hurricane Sandy Science Plan, the U.S. Geological Survey is expanding National Assessment of Coastal Change Hazards and forecast products to coastal wetlands. The intent is to provide federal, state, and local managers with tools to estimate the vulnerability of coastal wetlands to various factors and to evaluate their ecosystem service potential. For this purpose, the response and resilience of coastal wetlands to physical factors need to be assessed in terms of the ensuing change to their vulnerability and ecosystem services. Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge (EBFNWR), New Jersey, was selected as a pilot study area. As part of this data synthesis effort, hydrodynamic and sediment transport...
The Terrestrial Development Index (TDI) quantifies the level of development (urban, agriculture, energy and mineral extraction and transmission, and transportation) based on the surface disturbance footprint. TDI values range from 0 to 100% and represent the total percentage of land surface occupied by the development footprint within a 1-kilometer (km) radius moving window.
This represents the flowline network in Connecting River Systems Restoration Assessment (CRSRA). It is attributed with the number of disconnections between the reach and the connecting river system. These data will help identify the condition of hydrologic separation between potential restoration areas and the connecting river system. Low numbers represent fewer disconnections such as culverts between the reach and the rivers requiring no flow network modification to restore the area. These data include parameter inputs from external sources current to 2016. For an updated data set, including parameter inputs up to 2023, please see: Hopkins, A.L., Jaenicke, M.E., Bozimowski, A.A., Kowalski, K.P., and Sanocki,...

Natural and anthropogenic contaminants, pathogens, and viruses are found in soils and sediments throughout the United States. Enhanced dispersion and concentration of these environmental health stressors in coastal regions can result from sea level rise and storm-derived disturbances. The combination of existing environmental health stressors and those mobilized by natural or anthropogenic disasters could adversely impact the health and resilience of coastal communities and ecosystems. This dataset displays the exposure potential to environmental health stressors in the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge (EBFNWR), which spans over Great Bay, Little Egg Harbor, and Barnegat Bay in New Jersey, USA. Exposure...

These data were compiled to forecast climate exposure for 29 major plant communities in the southwestern United States to changing climate under two future climate change scenarios. An objective of our study was that species within plant communities have unique climate suitability signatures and forecast changes in climatic suitability will not be uniform within the species respective communities or among species within the community. We developed these spatial models where climate exposure is represented as a composite score of the climate exposure of characteristic plants for each community. Baseline climate exposure rasters represent a baseline climate change and were developed for current climate conditions...
These datasets describe channel adjustments over a 60-year period to dams in the Missouri National Recreational River (MNRR), South Dakota and Nebraska. Datasets include a channel geometry analysis from cross-sections, banklines digitized and interpreted to predict future bank erosion sites from aerial photography, and models of floodplain inundation over a range of discharges. There are two MNRR segments, a 39-mile segment downstream from Fort Randall Dam, and a 59-mile segment downstream from Gavins Point Dam. Similar datasets were analyzed for each MNRR segment using similar methods.

This dataset is the output of a python script/ArcGIS model that identifes dikes as having a difference in elevation above a certain threshold. If the elevation difference was below a certain threshold the area was not considered a dike; however, if the difference in elevation between two points was significantly high then the area was marked as a dike. Areas continuous with eachother were considered part of the same dike. Post processing occured. Users examined the data output, comparing the proposed dike locations to aerial imagery, flowline data, and the DEM. Dikes that appeared to be false positives were deleted from the data set. These data include parameter inputs from external sources current to 2016. For...

Well-established conservation planning principles and techniques framed by geodesign were used to assess the restorability of areas that historically supported coastal wetlands along the U.S. shore of western Lake Erie. The resulting analysis supported planning efforts to identify, prioritize, and track wetland restoration opportunity and investment in the region. To accomplish this, publicly available data, criteria derived from the regional managers and local stakeholders, and geospatial analysis were used to form an ecological model for spatial prioritization (Western Lake Erie Restoration Assessmente (WLERA)). Within the 192,618 ha study area that was bounded by the mouths of the Detroit River, MI to the north...
