This sampling frame is a set of grid-based finite-area frames spanning Canada, the United States, and Mexico. The grid for the United States is broken into individual grids for the continental United States, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. Alaska is combined with Canada into a single grid. Each country/state/territory extent consists of four nested sampling grids at 50x50km, 10x10km, 5x5km, and 1x1km resolutions. The original 10x10km continental United States grid was developed by the Forest Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture for use in the interagency “Bat Grid” monitoring program in the Pacific Northwest and was expanded across Canada, the United States, and Mexico for the North American Bat Monitoring Program (NABat)....

These data are satellite image-derived, classification maps of tamarisk (Tamarisk spp.) along the Colorado River in Grand Canyon National Park from river km 315 to 363, approximately from Parashant Canyon to Diamond Creek tributaries. The classification maps are published in TIF raster format. Two maps are published: 1) a classification of healthy, defoliated, and tamarisk canopy dieback from the tamarisk beetle (Diorhabda carinulata) in May 2019, and 2 a classification of healthy and beetle-impacted tamarisk in August 2019. Tamarisk was mapped using a Spectral Angle Mapper supervised classification derived from 2 m resolution, multispectral WorldView-2 imagery, with an overall accuracy of 80.0% in May 2019 and...

These normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) raster data were compiled to develop time series data of the lower Colorado River (LCR) riparian corridor vegetation greenness and phenology since the year 2000. An objective of our study was to evaluate short and long-term effects of drought and biocontrol on LCR riparian and aquatic ecosystems south of Hoover Dam. These data represent spatially explicit scaled normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI*) difference maps between two decades (2000 to 2010 and 2011 to 2020) and two 5 year periods (2000 to 2005 and 2016 to 2020). NDVI* is an additional correction to the NDVI to account for the illumination conditions; it is a processing correction step to improve...

These data (all data tables for the data release) represent a suite of biotic and abiotic variables that characterized plant communities and the geologic, geomorphic, edaphic, climatic, and land use history context in which distinct plant communities occur. In 2009, the National Park Service's Inventory and Monitoring program for the Northern Colorado Plateau Network (NCPN) began measuring vegetation cover and site characteristics at monitoring plots stratified across different vegetation types within national parks on the Colorado Plateau. NCPN biologists remeasured vegetation cover at these plots in a rotating panel over the following decade. In 2019, U. S. Geological Survey geologists and soil scientists collected/compiled...

The Louisiana State Legislature created Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act (CWPPRA) in order to conserve, restore, create and enhance Louisiana's coastal wetlands. The wetland restoration plans developed pursuant to these acts specifically require an evaluation of the effectiveness of each coastal wetlands restoration project in achieving long-term solutions to arresting coastal wetlands loss. This data set includes mosaicked aerial photographs for the Delta Wide Crevasses (MR-09) project for 2016. This data is used as a basemap land-water classification. It also serves as a visual tool for project managers to help them identify any obvious problems or land loss within their project boundary....

This dataset contains vegetation data collected at a variety of watershed restoration sites across southeastern Arizona over 5 years. The semiarid habitats in the Madrean Archipelago Ecoregion, which extends from southern Arizona into northern Mexico, are facing many challenges from climate change to land use change which threaten the ecological and cultural values of the region. Watershed restoration practitioners use a variety of techniques such as gabions, check dams, and cross vanes to reduce the effects of these threats and improve or maintain watershed function. Since vegetation dynamics in the area are driven by water availability, these restoration techniques appear to have secondary effects on the vegetation...

These full time-series period statistics data were compiled for monitoring riparian zone trends and changes in the lower Colorado as part of a study to document riparian ecosystem health and its water use. Our study evaluated the short and long-term effects on the river's vegetation of drought and hydrological processes in this dryland region. Because of the landscape changes, we explored remote sensing-based change analysis techniques and data to develop time series data of the Colorado River riparian corridor vegetation greenness, phenology, and water use since the year 2000. We divided the river into five Reaches (R3..R7) to separate between the different land covers, management conditions, and general geospatial...
Indiana Dunes National Park is a project within the AMMonitor community, which features projects that monitor wildlife and ecosystems with remotely deployed monitoring devices. Devices that capture media typically include trail cameras (photos, video) and/or autonomous recording units (audio). As with all AMMonitor projects, Indiana Dunes National Park utilizes an AMMonitor SQLite database to track wildlife monitoring data in a standardized format, permitting cross-project collaboration. The monitoring data are released to the public in “volumes”. Releases include the raw media files and their metadata, including the date, time, and location of media capture. Additional attachments at the volume level include human-...

These data consist of three related tables describing test conditions including pesticide concentration, water quality, and post-treatment survival of crayfish associated with laboratory studies conducted to determine 24-hr acute lethal concentrations of two pesticides containing pyrethrin or cypermethrin for two crayfish species, Procambarus clarkii and Faxonius virilis. Tests investigated whether two nominal temperatures (10 and 22 °C) and total suspended solids in water affected pesticide toxicity. Laboratory data will be used to design field treatments for open-water populations of invasive P. clarkii. Water quality monitoring during testing followed standard testing protocols and included temperature, pH, specific...

These tabular data were compiled for/to monitor vegetation and biocrust cover in a never grazed grassland located in Canyonlands National Park. An objective, or objectives, of our study was to document potential changes in biocrust and vegetation cover and species composition as related to changes in land use and climate change. These data represent a timeseries of long-term vegetation and biocrust monitoring plots, dating from 1996 to 2021. These data were collected at/in Virginia Park, Needles District of Canyonlands National Park, Utah. These data were collected by the U.S. Geological Survey, Southwest Biological Research Center in coordination with the US National Park Service. Data were collected via field...

Understanding how ecological and cultural resources may change in the future is an important component of conservation planning and for the implementation of long-term environmental monitoring. We modeled six future scenarios of urbanization and sea level rise to investigate their potential effects on the Peninsular Florida Landscape Conservation Cooperative's Priority Resources (PFLCC 2016), which were identified as important for conservation through a cooperative multi-partner effort to prioritize conservation efforts on a state-wide scale. These data represent conservation targets for the Coastal Uplands, High Pine and Scrub, and Freshwater Aquatics Priority Resources at present, and under six future scenarios...
