The importance of monitoring shrublands to detect and understand changes through time is increasingly recognized as critical to management. This dataset focuses on ecological change observation over ten years of field observation at 134 plots within two sites that are located in Southwestern of Wyoming, USA from 2008-2018. At sites 1 and 3, 134 long-term field observation plots were measured annually from 2008 to 2018. General plot locations were selected in 2006 using segments and spectral clusters on QuickBird imagery to identify the best locations for representing the variability of the entire site (one QuickBird image). Ground measurements were conducted using ocular measurements with cover was estimated from...

This metadata describes a digital elevation model (DEM) created from bathymetric and topographic data collected between 2017 and 2019 in the Sacramento River Deep Water Ship Channel (DWSC), northern Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, California. We merged the newly collected bathymetric and topographic data presented in this data release (DOI:10.5066/P9AQSRVH) with 2019 surveys by the California Department of Water Resources (DWR) and 2017 USGS Sacramento Delta Lidar, to produce a seamless digital elevation model of the DWSC at a grid resolution of 1 m.

These data were compiled as part of a field and growth chamber study of the establishment of Salsola tragus (Russian thistle), an invasive non-native annual plant in North America. Field work was conducted at Petrified Forest National Park, Arizona in 2015 and 2016 and the growth chamber study was conducted in 2016. The data represent field measurements of Salsola germination and growth (cover) and sediment movement at two field sites, one a stabilized sand sheet (SS) and the other on the ridge of a sand dune (SD). The data also represent a growth chamber assessment of the soil and litter seed bank from representative samples take at the two field sites.

These data were compiled to determine whether transient population dynamics substantially alter population growth rates of sagebrush after disturbance, impede resilience and restoration, and in turn drive ecosystem transformation. Data were collected from 2014-2016 on sagebrush population height distributions at 531 sites across the Great Basin that had burned and were subsequently reseeded by the BLM. These data include field data on sagebrush density in 6 size classes and site attributes (seeding year, sampling year, random site designation, elevation, seeding rate). Also included are modeled spring soil moisture data at each site from the year of seeding to sampling. This data release includes associated software...

Acoustic-backscatter data were collected during a 2018 swath survey in the Cache Slough Complex and the Sacramento River Deep Water Ship Channel, California. Data were collected by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) during USGS field activity 2018-684-FA, using interferometric bathymetric sidescan sonar systems mounded to the USGS R/V San Lorenzo and the R/V Kelpfly. The backscatter data are provided as GeoTIFF images.

Bathymetry data were collected during a 2018 swath survey in the Cache Slough Complex and the Sacramento River Deep Water Ship Channel, California. Data were collected by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) during USGS field activity 2018-684-FA, using interferometric bathymetric sidescan sonar systems mounded to the USGS R/V San Lorenzo and the R/V Kelpfly. The bathymetry data and a shaded-relief version are provided as GeoTIFF images.

In 2017-2019, USGS Western Ecological Research Center (USGS WERC) partnered with California State Parks to continue long-term, at-sea surveys to estimate at-sea abundance and juvenile (i.e. hatch-year) productivity of Marbled Murrelets (Brachyramphus marmoratus) in U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Conservation Zone 6 (central California: San Francisco Bay to Monterey Bay). Marbled Murrelets have been listed as “Endangered” by the State of California and “Threatened” by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service since 1992. Marbled Murrelets have been surveyed at sea off central California since 1995 (Becker et al. 1997), and standardized surveys to estimate abundance and productivity have been conducted since 1999 (excluding...
The 14-m-tall Marmot Dam was removed during the summer of 2007, and the cofferdam protecting the working area was breached during a storm on October 19, 2007, allowing approximately 750,000 m3 of reservoir deposit to be eroded freely and released downstream to the Sandy River. Prior to the Marmot Dam removal, sediment transport models were developed to predict the transport dynamics of both gravel and sand, providing key pieces of information for stakeholders and regulatory agencies to select the most appropriate dam removal alternative. A monitoring program was implemented following dam removal that was designed to examine model predictions and assess when potential fish passage issues related to dam removal were...

This metadata describes a digital elevation model (DEM) created from bathymetric and topographic data collected between 2004 and 2019 in the Cache Slough Complex (CSC), northern Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, California. We merged the newly collected bathymetric and topographic data presented in this data release (DOI:10.5066/P9AQSRVH) with 2019 surveys by the California Department of Water Resources (DWR), 2017 USGS Sacramento Delta Lidar, and 2004 bathymetry data from the Army Corp of Engineers. Small gaps of missing data were filled with existing DWR/USGS Delta DEMs to produce a seamless DEM of the Cache Slough Complex with a grid resolution of 1 m. Remaining gaps in the DEM are areas where there is currently...
