View is southwest and west of Zabriskie Point, an overlook by Highway 190 about 3 miles up Furnace Creek Wash from Furnace Creek Inn. The base of the Furnace Creek Formation is at the topographic break between the badlands and the rougher, higher ground in the distance on the left. Light-colored playa beds about 2,500 feet thick extend to the base of a conglomerate which forms the dark cliff at the right. The beds are dipping to the right (north) into the Texas Spring Syncline. The center of the photograph looks west across Death Valley to the Panamint Range at Aguereberry Point; Tucki Mountain on the right....
