The Comprehensive Habitat Type Dataset was developed by merging NOAA Benthic Habitat Atlas (BHA), Ecological Mapping Systems of Texas (aka Texas Ecological Systems Database, TESD), and National Wetlands Inventory (NWI) data within the study area for the ICF 2012 project (CGP LCC 2012-002 Employing the Conservation Design Approach on Sea-Level Rise Impacts on Coastal Avian Habitats along the Central Texas Coast). BHA data was used to depict mangroves, oysters, and patchy, continuous, and discontinuous seagrass beds where BHA existed within the study area. NWI data was used for all wetland/intertidal environments where NWI data existed within the study area. TESD data was used for all upland environments, and weltand/intertidal...

The ecologically-relevant geophysical (ERGo) landforms dataset is a comprehensive classification of landforms based on hillslope position and dominant physical processes that covers most of North America. Four hillslope positions form a natural sequence of topographic units along the catena: ridges/peaks (summits), upper slopes (shoulders), lower slopes (foot slopes), and valley bottoms (toe slopes). The position within each of these hillslopes as a function of solar orientation to reflect how ecological processes (especially soil moisture and evapotranspiration) are influenced by insolation. Also included are very flat (i.e. areas 50°). We provide these data here at 30 m resolution, grouped by Landscape Conservation...

This dataset consists of raster geotiff and tabular outputs of annual map projections of land use and land cover for the California Central Valley for the period 2011-2101 across 5 future scenarios. Four of the scenarios were developed as part of the Central Valley Landscape Conservation Project. The 4 original scenarios include a Bad-Business-As-Usual (BBAU; high water, poor management), California Dreamin’ (DREAM; high water, good management), Central Valley Dustbowl (DUST; low water, poor management), and Everyone Equally Miserable (EEM; low water, good management). These scenarios represent alternative plausible futures, capturing a range of climate variability, land management activities, and habitat restoration...

This story map is a part of the General Land Office (GLO) Record of the Week (ROTW) project. Each week, the BLM ES will release a story map as a part of the GLO ROTW Project. This project was initiated by BLM Eastern States to share unique records from the GLO Records collection. This story map discussed a short history of Carson City, Nevada, John W. North, surveyor general of the Nevada Territory, and how "America's Smallest Capital" has grown in recent years.

This story map details the history of Fort D.A. Russel near Cheyenne, Wyoming. The story is based off of a BLM survey plat that shows the area when it was still just a military reservation.

The purpose of this data set is support resource allocation decisions (i.e. where to invest conservation effort) within the Gulf Coastal Plains and Ozarks Landscape Conservation Cooperative. The Condition Index ranks pixels (10-m) according to how well they meet the Desired State for the Tidal Marsh habitat system, which is described qualitatively and quantitatively in the GCPO LCC’s draft Integrated Science Agenda (v4). Higher values indicate sites closer to the Desired State. Value of 2 indicates areas appropriate for restoration but currently under an alternative land use (i.e. potential habitat). Value of 1 indicates areas projected by USGS to become Tidal Marsh under a 2-m sea-level rise scenario. Please see...

The purpose of this data set is support resource allocation decisions (i.e. where to invest conservation effort) within the Gulf Coastal Plains and Ozarks Landscape Conservation Cooperative. The Management Opportunity action map for the Upland Hardwood (Woodland) habitat system ranks pixels (250-m) for 3 general classes of conservation actions. Maintenance pixels (values 7-9) are currently estimated to meet the site condition Endpoints in the GCPO LCC’s draft Integrated Science Agenda (v4). Enhancement pixels (values 4-6) are those that are currently classified as Upland Hardwood (Woodland) but do not meet the site condition Endpoints in the Science Agenda. Restoration pixels (values 1-3) are those that are currently...

The purpose of this data set is support resource allocation decisions (i.e. where to invest conservation effort) within the Gulf Coastal Plains and Ozarks Landscape Conservation Cooperative. It represents a relative ranking of HUC12 watersheds according to the quantity and quality of habitat as described in the GCPO LCC’s draft Integrated Science Agenda (v4). Watersheds (HUC12) were ranked by the presence, quantity and quality of the Upland Hardwood (Woodland) habitat system (includes upland hardwood forest, oak-hickory forest, and oak-hickory woodlands) within the 5 sub-geographies of the GCPO LCC region. Once ranked, watersheds were classified (e.g., “Top 10%”) based on the proportion of the total Upland Hardwood...

The grassland condition index raster data layer assigns to each 30 meter pixel in the GCPO a condition index score generated by the presence or absence of a set of desired conditions such as patch size, vegetation height, etc. This grassland bar code layer indicates which conditions contributed to the index value score, and by how much, by use of a nine-digit code. The digits in the code represent the following input conditions in order: potential for restoration, presence of a grassland ecological system, presence of prairie (a subset of grasslands characterized by the presence or dominance of native vegetation), configuration in a patch > 100 acres, and the four site-level condition endpoints: vegetation height...

Clarke, at the University of California, Santa Barbara, Department of Geography and modified by David I. Donato of the United States Geological Survey (USGS) Eastern Geographic Science Center (EGSC). Further model modification and implementation was performed at the Biodiversity and Spatial Information Center at North Carolina State University.Urban growth probability extents throughout the 21st century were projected for the Southeast Regional Assessment Project (SERAP), which encompasses all or parts of the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky,...

This dataset contains a representation of developed lands projected to occur in the Alternative 2070 scenario from the Florida 2070 project. Florida 2070 and its companion project Water 2070 were a joint effort of 1000 Friends of Florida, the University of Florida's GeoPlan Center and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. The work was completed in December 2016. Florida 2070 produced three land use/population distribution scenarios Baseline 2010, Trend 2070 and Alternative 2070. The two 2070 scenarios are based on a population projection derived from data produced by the Florida Bureau of Economic and Business Research. This projection suggests approximately 15 million more people will live...
