This data release contains monthly 270-meter resolution Basin Characterization Model (BCMv8) climate and hydrologic variables for Localized Constructed Analog (LOCA; Pierce et al., 2014)-downscaled ACCESS 1.0 Global Climate Model (GCM) for Representative Concentration Pathway (RCP) 4.5 (medium-low emissions) and 8.5 (high emissions) for hydrologic California. The LOCA climate scenarios span water years 1950 to 2099 with greenhouse-gas forcings beginning in 2006. The LOCA downscaling method has been shown to produce better estimates of extreme events and reduces the common downscaling problem of too many low-precipitation days (Pierce et al., 2014). Ten GCMs were selected from the full ensemble of models from the...

The LOCA climate scenarios span water years 1950 to 2099 with greenhouse-gas forcings beginning in 2006. The LOCA downscaling method has been shown to produce better estimates of extreme...

The Skykomish, Snoqualmie, and Middle Fork Snoqualmie River Basins have historically provided critical spawning, rearing, and core habitat for several salmonid species. These salmonid species include natural populations of Chinook salmon (O. tshawytscha), steelhead trout (O. mykiss), and bull trout (Salvelinus confluentus)—listed as “Threatened” under the Endangered Species Act—as well as coho salmon (O. kisutch)—listed as a ”Species of concern”—pink salmon (O. gorbuscha), chum salmon (O. keta), and native char (S. malma) (Solomon and Boles, 2002; Stohr and others, 2011; Svrjcek and others, 2013; Snohomish County Surface Water Management and the Sustainable Lands Strategy Executive Committee [SWM], 2017; U.S. Fish...
This dataset summarizes impairment status for HUC12 watersheds at the CONUS scale using the EPA publicly available Assessment, Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) Tracking and Implementation System (ATTAINS) geospatial package and the USGS Watershed Boundary Dataset (WBD). ATTAINS is an online system maintained by the EPA containing information about the condition of the Nation’s surface waters, as reported by individual states. These data were downloaded in October 2023 and primarily reflect 2022 stream conditions. Because of the varying data types that exist in the database, an independent methodology was developed for summarizing impairment status for HUC12 watersheds using the USGS WBD as detailed in this metadata...

This data release documents the datasets and procedures used to update the Los Angeles Basin Watershed Model (LABWM) (Hevesi and Johnson, 2016) from INFIL3.0 (USGS, 2008a, 2008b) to INFIL4.0. The LABWM provides gridded monthly infiltration, evaporation, recharge, and runoff estimates for the Los Angeles region using the water balance recharge model, INFIL. INFIL is a grid-based, distributed-parameter, deterministic model that uses a daily time step to simulate the temporal and spatial distribution of the root-zone water balance, including net infiltration and potential recharge across the lower boundary of the root zone. INFIL3.0 was originally released and documented in 2008 (USGS, 2008a) and has been used and...
Site data contained in the ScrIntrvls_AllSrcRefs_AllWellsRev.csv dataset define the top and bottom altitudes of well screens in 64,763 irrigation wells completed in the Mississippi River Valley alluvial aquifer (MRVA) that constitute a production zone in the Mississippi Alluvial Plain (MAP) extending across the midwestern and southern United States from Illinois to Louisiana. Each well entry contains an Enumerated Domain Value of the Attribute Label SrcRefNo to identify the state environmental agency that contributed to the database, and enumerated values are associated with specific state agencies by using the Enumerated Domain Value Definition. Screen-top and -bottom altitudes and land surface are referenced (corrected)...

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the Illinois Center for Transportation and the Illinois Department of Transportation, prepared hydro-conditioned geographic information systems (GIS) layers for use in the Illinois StreamStats application. These data were used to delineate drainage basins and compute basin characteristics for updated peak flow and flow duration regression equations for Illinois. This dataset consists of raster grid files for elevation (dem), flow accumulation (fac), flow direction (fdr), and stream definition (str900) for each 8-digit Hydrologic Unit Code (HUC) area in Illinois merged into a single dataset. There are 51 full or partial HUC 8s represented by this data set: 04040002,...
This dataset presents paired air and stream temperature measurements from 11 sites in the Olympic Experimental State Forest within the Quillayute River Basin, Washington, and metrics to understand groundwater influence and thermal sensitivity at these sites. The study area consisted of upper reaches of the Dickey, Calawah, Sol Duc, Bogachiel Rivers, above their respective confluences with the Quillayute River. Paired, or co-located, air and stream water temperature data were collected continuously (every 60 or 120 minutes) by the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (WADNR), Forest Resources Division, between 2017 and 2022 (Minkova and Foster, 2017). Stream water temperature data were screened by WADNR...

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC), has compiled Geographic Information Systems (GIS) datasets. The spatial data layers provided in this data release are hydrography data derived from high-resolution lidar digital elevation models (DEM). They include a hydroline polyline shapefile used to hydro-enforce the high-resolution lidar DEM; a stream network centerline polyline shapefile derived from the hydro-enforcement that shows stream location; a sub-basin polygon shapefile derived from the hydro-enforcement representing watershed areas for all stream network centerline polylines; a flow direction raster, predicting the direction of flow based on direction...

This digital dataset contains the datasets related to agricultural and municipal water supply and groundwater in the Lower Salinas Valley Hydrologic Models (LSVHM), including the Salinas Valley Operational Model (SVOM) and the Salinas Valley Integrated Hydrologic Model (SVIHM). Groundwater inflow and outflow data include reported groundwater pumpage and groundwater elevations obtained for the period from October 1, 1967, to September 30, 2018. Groundwater pumpage in the Lower Salinas Valley Hydrologic Models is grouped into (1) pre-estimated and specified municipal and industrial (referred to as water supply) and (2) simulated pumpage from all irrigation wells used to supply water for irrigation (referred to as...

The Paso Robles groundwater basin (PR) encompasses approximately 500,000 acres and is located in the upper portion of the Salinas River watershed in the San Luis Obispo (SLO) and Monterey counties, Central Coast region of California (.\ancillary\Figures\Figure 1. Site Map.tif from this data release; California Department of Water Resources, 2003). Agriculture makes up a large part of the regional economy and agricultural water demand is the single largest component of total water demands in San Luis Obispo County (SLO; Fugro West, Inc and others, 2005). As such, future water supply sustainability is an important water management objective. To quantitatively evaluate long-term trends in groundwater levels, inflow,...

The USGS Wyoming-Montana Water Science Center (WY–MT WSC) completed a report (Sando and McCarthy, 2018) documenting methods for peak-flow frequency analysis following implementation of the Bulletin 17C guidelines (England and others, 2019). The methods are used to provide estimates of peak-flow quantiles for 66.7-, 50-, 42.9-, 20-, 10-, 4-, 2-, 1-, 0.5-, and 0.2-percent annual exceedance probabilities (AEPs) for selected USGS streamgages. This data release presents peak-flow frequency analyses for selected streamgages in Carter, Custer, Fallon, Powder River, and Prairie Counties, and the Powder River Basin, based on data through water year 2022, using methods described by Sando and McCarthy (2018).
