This dataset was created using the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service’s (NRCS’s) SSURGO soil survey data and supplemented with STATSGO data in areas where SSURGO was not available. The dataset uses, in part, the soil data viewer extension for ArcMap to query for Wind Erodibility. Revised SSURGO map units provided by NRCS were used to update the map units near the Colorado-New Mexico border. The dataset is limited by availability of more detailed soils information from SSURGO, because this ecoregion contains areas not yet mapped by SSURGO.
