Remote camera stations were set up in Lassen Volcanic National Park from August to October 2017 and June to September 2018 to document occurrence of mesocarnivores and other wildlife. 126 cameras were set up at 32 primary sampling units (clusters of two to four cameras) throughout the park. Random locations for primary sampling units were chosen using a 3-km sampling grid over the park area. The dataset contains all species observed within the study time-frame, the date and time of observation and the number of individuals detected as well as identification for individual locations, cameras and images. Of the three target species of conservation concern (Pacific fisher (Pekania pennanti), Pacific marten (Martes...

This dataset provides clam species abundance and size data from intertidal and subtidal mixed sediment habitats in Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve (GBNPP). Data are provided for all observed clams, horse mussels, or urchins 14 mm or larger. Sampling involved excavating 25 cm of substrate from quadrats (approximately 0.25 sq meter) along transects at random and selected sites, 10 quadrats at the 0 Mean Lower Low Water (MLLW) tide level for intertidal sampling and 20 quadrats at approximately 9 m depth for subtidal sampling. Site and taxonomic information are provided. Abundance and size data are provided in two tables with different data configurations: (1) a compact version with data for those species observed...

Remote camera stations were set up in Oregon Caves National Monument and Preserve from February through April 2017 to document occurrence of mesocarnivores and other wildlife. Fifteen cameras were set up at four primary sampling units (clusters of three to four cameras) throughout the park.

Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) is a fatal, contagious, neuro-degenerative disease affecting multiple members of the Family Cervidae. First detected in 1967, the disease has, as of April 2024, been documented in free-ranging and/or captive cervid populations in 33 states, five Canadian provinces, the Republic of South Korea, Norway, Sweden, and Finland. The data provided here contains information on the known, available, documented distribution of CWD in the United States that is current as of the publication date. The USGS National Wildlife Health Center (NWHC) tracks changes to the known distribution of CWD in the form of a map (available on the NWHC website at https://www.usgs.gov/centers/nwhc/science/expanding-distribution-chronic-wasting-disease....

This data package contains two tables with habitat measurements from each sampling point used in avian point-transect surveys on the Seward Peninsula in 2012 and the locations of those sites. Measurements include percent cover and canopy height of alder (Alnus spp.), dwarf birch (Betula spp.), ericaceous shrubs (e.g., Empetrum, Vaccinium spp.), herbaceous, lichen (e.g., Cladonia spp.), and willow (Salix spp.). Version History: First release: January 2015 Revised: February 2023 (ver. 2.0)

These data are part of the Gulf Watch Alaska (GWA) long-term monitoring program and describe bivalve count and size sampling and observations conducted at intertidal soft-sediment sampling sites in the northern Gulf of Alaska. This dataset consists of five comma separated files (.csv): 1) bivalve taxonomy table, 2) bivalve sampling site table, 3) bivalve count table, 4) bivalve size table, and 5) list of Gulf Watch Alaska principal investigators and collaborators. Version History: First release: November 2018 Revised: September 2022 (ver. 2.0) Revised: October 2023 (ver. 3.0)

Remote camera stations were set up in Lava Beds National Monument and Modoc National Forest from January to May 2018 to document occurrence of mesocarnivores and other wildlife. Thirty-three cameras were set up at 12 primary sampling units (clusters of one to four cameras) throughout the park. Potentially suitable habitat occurred in small patches in Lava Beds National Monument with cameras were placed in groups of one, two or three. To allow for more primary sampling units of four cameras, some cameras were installed in neighboring portions of Modoc National Forest. Cameras located in Modoc National Forest are considered part of the Lava Beds National Monument survey for the purposes of this study. The dataset...

This data set describes nuclear microsatellite genotypes derived from twenty-one autosomal loci (Fal02, Fal04, Fal07, Fal08, Fal10, Fal12, Fal14-1, Fal16, Fal 17, Fal19, Gch03, Gch06, Gch07, Gch12, Gch13, Gch14, Gch17, Gch19, Pho110, KiRa9-1, and KiRa10) and nucleotide sequence data derived from two mitochondrial DNA loci (control region and NADH dehydrogenase 2). Samples were collected on Oahu, Kauai, Molokai, Hawaii, United States of America. Samples used in the study originated from blood or feather samples collected in the field from live trapped birds or from tissue taken from dead birds or museum specimens according to each institution's load policies and procedures. We compared historical (samples collected...

This dataset was created to assess the status of Lahontan cutthroat trout (*Oncorhynchus clarkii henshawi*) habitat. Surveys were conducted within occupied Lahontan cutthroat trout habitat, as designated by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Data represent reach-based surveys conducted in accordance with the Lahontan cutthroat trout habitat status assessment (LCTHSA) protocol (USGS). LCTHSA uses a probabalistic sampling design (i.e., Generalized Random Tessellation Stratified), standardized collection of habitat attributes, electronic data capture and management, and integration with remote sensing and geospatially-derived data products. Data were collected and managed by the U.S. Geological Survey and U.S. Fish...

Due to recent interest in developing offshore wind energy infrastructure around the main Hawaiian Islands (MHI), U.S. Geological Survey Western Ecological Research Center (USGS–WERC) partnered with the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) from 2013–2016 to study breeding Hawaiian seabird distributions, habitat utilizations, and ranging behaviors within near-island and outer continental shelf waters. In this study, we employed several bio-logging technologies to track at-sea movement and behavior of five MHI-breeding seabird species: Brown Booby (Sula leucogaster), Laysan Albatross (Phoebastria immutabilis), Red-tailed Tropicbird (Phaethon rubricauda), Red-footed Booby (Sula sula), and Wedge-tailed Shearwater...
