U.S. Geological Survey Northwest and Pacific Islands Region inland bathymetric survey data are compiled to create a survey inventory providing survey records including survey system and product information, and links to survey datasets when available. Dataset footprints including this information and showing the location and extent of surveys can be downloaded as a shapefile or geodatabase, and can be accessed through Spatial Services provided here.

The watershed data management (WDM) database SC16.WDM is updated with the processed data for the period October 1, 2016, through September 30, 2017, and renamed as SC17.WDM. The precipitation data are collected from a tipping-bucket rain-gage network and the hydrologic data (stage and discharge) are collected at USGS streamflow-gaging stations in and around DuPage County, Illinois. Hourly precipitation and hydrologic data for the period October 1, 2016, through September 30, 2017, are processed following the guidelines described in Bera (2014) and appended to SC16.WDM and renamed as SC17.WDM. Meteorological data (wind speed, solar radiation, air temperature, dewpoint temperature, and potential evapotranspiration)...

This data release includes 2 child items with tracking data for three large-bodied gull species and hybrids (Larus species) utilizing coastal areas of Alaska. Child Item 1: "Argos and GPS Satellite Tracking Data for Three Large-Bodied Gull Species and Hybrids (Larus spp.) - Processed Data" Quality-controlled data collected from Argos and Argos-linked GPS satellite transmitters. Child Item 2: "Argos and GPS Satellite Tracking Data for Three Large-Bodied Gull Species and Hybrids (Larus spp.) - Raw Data" All raw data collected from Argos and Argos-linked GPS satellite transmitters, provided for completeness of the archive. The "Processed Data" (Child Item 1) are better suited for most analytical purposes. Version...
We created a single map of surface water presence by intersecting water classes from available land cover products (National Wetland Inventory, Gap Analysis Program, National Land Cover Database, and Dynamic Surface Water Extent) across the U.S. state of Arizona. We derived classified samples for four wetland classes from the harmonized map: water, herbaceous wetlands, wooded wetlands, and non-wetland cover. In Google Earth Engine (GEE) we developed a random forest model that combined the training data with spatially explicit predictor variables of vegetation greenness indices, wetness indices, seasonal index variation, topographic variables, and hydrologic parameters. The final product is a wall-to-wall map of...

This metadata document describes the data contained in the "Argos GPS Processed Data" (Child Item 1) of this data release. This data release contains all data collected by the Argos System from 6 satellite transmitters attached to Glaucous-winged gulls on Middleton Island and 42 Argos-linked GPS satellite transmitters attached to three species of large-bodied gulls (genus Larus) and hybrids thereof, captured at landfills in southcentral, western and northern Alaska. The transmitters carried GPS receivers, so GPS tracking data represent the backbone of this data release. However, because the GPS locations were communicated through the Argos System, a time series of Argos (Doppler) tracking data also exists and is...
Bird and habitat surveys were conducted in winter-flooded rice fields in the Sacramento Valley, California, USA during the fall and winters of 2021-2022 (Oct 2021 through February 2022) and 2022-2023 (December 2022 through February 2023). Rice field sampling consisted of (1) a bird survey that was followed by (2) an overall habitat assessment and (3) a more detailed habitat transect survey. Rice farms in the Sacramento Valley are organized into separate rice fields that each consist of multiple smaller rice checks. This dataset contains 253 surveyed rice checks with the observed bird abundances for each rice check, calculated diversity metrics, and measured habitat variables. These data support the following publication:...
The Missouri Stream Conservation and Connectivity Prioritization Tool contains data tabulating costs to traverse between 10,357 origin and 50,135 destination stream reaches throughout the Central Plains and Ozarks aquatic subregions in Missouri. Below are links to data associated with the more northern drainages and also the southern drainages. These data are intended to be used in the Missouri Stream Conservation and Connectivity Prioritization Tool and are not suitable stand-alone products outside of the context of the application.
These data include giant sequioa (Sequoiadendron giganteum) age and tree-ring data from measurements on 458 stumps. The original data were recorded on paper data sheets by Ellsworth Huntington and his assistants in 1911 and 1912; their methods are elaborated in Huntington (1914), and further details can be found in Stephenson and Demetry (1995). We entered the data from photocopies of the original data sheets which, to the best of our knowledge, reside at Yale University. The photocopies apparently were made in the late 1960s or early 1970s and were housed in Sequoia National Park’s archives. Most of Huntington’s 458 measured giant sequoia stumps were in or near what is now the Hume Lake District of...

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with DuPage County Stormwater Management Department, developed a watershed data management (WDM) database of hourly meteorological and hydrologic data for use in a near real-time streamflow simulation system. This WDM database is updated at least weekly by USGS staff with the latest available data. These data are initially provisional and may have periods of missing or flawed data due to equipment malfunctions or other problems. To improve the accuracy of simulations, the WDM database is updated and corrected with quality-assured and quality-controlled (QA/QC) data for each water year (a water year is the 12-month period, October 1 through September 30, in which...

The Ecology Section at the USGS Conte Laboratory has studied fish in the West Brook since 1997. The goal is to understand the strength and direction of drivers on fish growth, movement, reproduction and survival in the wild. We hope to provide a comprehensive understanding of fish population dynamics for this stream network and ultimately individual fitness (natural selection and evolution) in the study area.

This model archive contains data and code used to assess the use of process-informed multi-task deep learning models for predicting in-stream dissolved oxygen concentrations. Three holdout experiments were run to assess model performance, including a temporal holdout experiment, a spatial holdout experiment with similar sites held out, and a spatial holdout experiment with dissimilar sites held out. This model archive includes data from 10 sites in the lower Delaware River Basin that were used in the model experiments. Model training target data include dissolved oxygen concentrations downloaded from the National Water Information System (NWIS) (U.S. Geological Survey 2023). Model input data include daily meteorological...

The Department of the Interior (DOI) Office of Wildland Fire and USGS created the The Wildfire Hazard and Risk Assessment Inventory to meet the Monitoring, Maintenance, and Treatment Plan requirements under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL). It provides an inventory of key national, regional, and state wildfire risk and fire hazard assessments useful for understanding different characterizations of fire risk. Some of the assessments may be useful for communicating contributions toward risk reduction of treatments funded by DOI, including investments under BIL. For each assessment, the inventory provides a description and information about the spatial extent, resolution, fire modeling approach, values considered...

This data release contains 2 shapefiles which include 626 unique shorelines and 3 foredune toes spanning 2016 to 2023 along Minnesota Point, a 9-kilometer long bay-mouth bar at the western end of Lake Superior. Each shoreline represents the intersection line between land and water at a unique time associated with the capture of a satellite image, and these shorelines are used to examine trends in beach width and investigate beach nourishment performance in an accompanying publication (Roland et al., 2024). The shorelines were extracted from 3-meter resolution Planet Labs PlanetScope satellite imagery following the methods of Doherty et al., 2022. A site-specific machine learning model was developed to classify image...
