The Sparta aquifer is the principal source of ground water in north-central Louisiana. In 1985, the aquifer was extensively pumped for public supply (25 Mgal/d) and industrial use (29 Mgal/d and 7 Mgal/d for 1989). More than 100 public supply systems, in 8 parishes, contain water from the Sparta aquifer. Large industrial pumpage from the Sparta aquifer began in 1922 at Bastrop (Sanford, 1973a, p. 60) and in about 1923 at West Monroe. Water levels in wells in the Sparta aquifer have been declining in these arease and in other parts of north-central Louisiana since the early 1920's, when industries began withdrawing large amounts of water. However, in Morehouse Parish the water levels in wells have been recovering...

During the spring of 2001, water levels were measured in 427 wells in the Sparta-Memphis aquifer in Arkansas and the Sparta aquifer in Louisiana. Water-quality samples were collected for temperature and specific-conductance measurements during the spring and summer of 2001 from 150 wells in Arkansas in the Sparta-Memphis aquifer. Dissolved chloride samples were collected and analyzed for 87 of the 150 wells. Water-quality samples were not collected in Louisiana. Maps of areal distribution of potentiometric surface, difference in water-level measurements from 1997 to 2001, and specific conductance generated from these data reveal spatial trends across the study area. The highest water-level altitude measured in Arkansas...
This dataset consists of three polygons representing approximate elevation-derived extents of Gumboot Lake based on observations published in the report Effects of ground-water development on the water regimen of Paradise Valley, Humboldt County, Nevada, 1948-1968 and Hydrologic Reconnaissance of the Tributary Areas (Nevada Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Water Resources Bulletin 39): 1) based on 1952-1953 lake elevation of 4,320 feet, 2) based on estimated average area value of 2,000 acres, and 3) based on estimated maximum area value of 10,000 acres.

Bed elevation data exists as topobathy data for the Upper Mississippi River System (UMRS) through the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Upper Mississippi River Restoration (UMRR) program. While those data meet some needs, water depth is often the desired information needed by researchers and resource managers. Water depth data (i.e., bathymetry) at specific discharge conditions can be derived by construction of a water surface elevation GIS data layer. Such a layer was developed using liner interpolation between gages and adjusting for lateral discontinuity. The selected discharge condition was a low water condition determined by the condition exceeded 75% of the time over a 40-yr period.

This section of the data release supports the data used in models for the associated publication. The U.S. Geological Survey and the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay collected hydrologic and water-quality data to assess the effectiveness of agricultural conservation management practice (CMP) implementation at Mainstem Plum Creek (USGS site ID: 04084911) and West Plum Creek (USGS site ID: 04084927) in northeastern Wisconsin. Monitoring data from 2010–2020 at Mainstem Plum and 2013–2020 at West Plum were used to detect changes in hydrologic and water-quality responses during runoff events. Runoff events were defined by hydrographers and used to compute event loads and event flow-weighted mean concentrations of...

A sensitivity analysis of groundwater-recharge estimates from a water-budget model was completed for the islands of Oahu and Maui, Hawaii (Johnson and others, 2023). Results of the sensitivity analysis were used to quantify the relative importance of selected model parameters to recharge estimates for three moisture zones (dry, mesic, and wet) on Oahu and Maui. This shapefile contains the boundaries of the moisture zones and boundaries of the model subareas that were used in the model simulations for Oahu. The shapefile attribute information includes the names of the land-cover types assigned to model subareas and the mean annual recharge values determined for the model subareas for the baseline scenario of the...
The population using public supply drinking water was mapped in two ways: the census enhanced method (CEM) evenly distributes the population across the census block-group, and the urban land-use enhanced method (ULUEM) distributes the population only to certain urban land use designations in order to more precisely locate public supply users. This dataset consists of the estimated population using public supply surface water distributed across block-groups.
