The Borehole Database for Virginia provides information about boreholes drilled by Virginia Energy as part of on-going geologic mapping studies conducted in the Coastal Plain of Virginia. This collection is available for study and sampling by scientists, citizens, government agencies, and by industry. Virginia Energy maintains this collection to support the wise use of Virginia's resources by providing quality geologic and mineral resource information.
The collection includes records for approximately 1,800 boreholes, with location information, lithologic log, and interpreted formation contacts. These boreholes were drilled for water wells, geologic research, geotechnical engineering studies, and environmental studies.
The collection is available as a database maintained by Virginia Energy staff.
