Album caption and index card: Edge of the mudflow at the mouth of Crystal Creek where a sample was taken to estimate the consistency of the mud during the flood of December 1966. The mud (dark deposits) flowed over the pre-flood deposits (light deposits indicated by spade) of the Colorado River. Grand Canyon National Park, Coconino County, Arizona. ca. 1966. Published as Figure 6 in U.S. Geological Survey. Professional Paper 980. 1977.
