Purpose
This shapefile represents the extent of a distribution mapping program for invasive Phragmites australis for the coastal region (shoreline to 10km inland) of the United States side of the Great Lakes and Lake Michigan. Mapping efforts used a combination of field work and algorithms to classify remotely sensed data in order to identify stands of invasive Phragmites that were larger than 0.2 ha (0.5 acre). Satellite-based radar imagery came from the ALOS PALSAR program.
