This data release contains the analytical results and the evaluated source data files of a geospatial analysis for identifying areas in Alaska that may have potential for sediment-hosted Pb-Zn (lead-zinc) deposits. The spatial analysis is based on queries of statewide source datasets Alaska Geochemical Database (AGDB3), Alaska Resource Data File (ARDF), and Alaska Geologic Map (SIM3340) within areas defined by 12-digit HUCs (subwatersheds) from the National Watershed Boundary dataset. The packages of files available for download are: 1. The results in geodatabase format are in SedPbZn_Results_gdb.zip. The analytical results for sediment-hosted Pb-Zn deposits are in a polygon feature class which contains the points...

National-scale geologic, geophysical, and mineral resource raster and vector data covering the United States, Canada, and Australia are provided in this data release. The data were compiled as part of the tri-national Critical Minerals Mapping Initiative (CMMI). The CMMI, established in 2019, is an international science collaboration between the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), Geoscience Australia (GA), and the Geological Survey of Canada (GSC). One aspect of the CMMI is to use national- to global-scale earth science data to map where critical mineral prospectivity may exist using advanced machine learning approaches (Kelley, 2020). The geoscience information presented in this report include the training and evidential...

Approximately 1,900 square kilometers of imagery were collected from July 14 to July 21, 2014 using a HyMap™ sensor (Cocks and others, 1998) mounted on a modified Piper Navajo aircraft. The survey area covered parts of the Wrangell and Nutzotin Mountains in the eastern Alaska Range near Nabesna, Alaska. The aircraft was flown at an altitude of approximately 5,050 meters (m) (3,480 m above the mean ground surface elevation of 1570 m) resulting in average ground spatial resolution of 6.7 m. HyMap measured reflected sunlight in 126 narrow channels that cover the wavelength region of 455 to 2,483 nanometers (nm). Data were delivered by the operators of the sensor (HyVista Corp., Australia) in units of radiance (Kokaly...

Compressed file SedPbZn_Results_gdb.zip contains the analytical results of a geospatial analysis for identifying areas in Alaska that may have potential for sediment-hosted Pb-Zn (lead-zinc) deposits. An ArcMap mxd file, layer file, and geodatabase with cartographic layers is provided for users to view the analytical results in ArcMap. Additional files include FGDC metadata, a pdf showing the query parameters for the analysis, and a README file....

Compressed file sedPbZn_SourceData_gdb.zip contains the GIS datasets and Python scripts used to calculate the estimated potential and certainty that sediment-hosted Pb-Zn (lead-zinc) deposits might be present in an area in Alaska. The statewide datasets include: Alaska Geochemical Database (AGDB3), Alaska Resource Data File (ARDF), lithology layers created from Alaska Geologic Map (SIM3340), and 12-digit HUCs, subwatersheds from the National Watershed Boundary dataset. FGDC metadata for all datasets are included. In addition, files are included for the user to modify the parameters of the analysis. These include two Python scripts, 1) used to score ARDF sites for sediment-hosted Pb-Zn potential, and 2) to evaluate...

Compressed file sedPbZn_Appendices.zip contains the appendix files 2, 3, and 4 associated with U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) publication Open-File Report 2020-1147. Appendix 2 provides the scoring criteria of the Alaska Resource Data File (ARDF), listing keywords for different ARDF fields and the weighting factor for each word. Appendix 3 lists the ARDF sites with the resulting scores of the keyword searches. Appendix 4 charts out the queries used on the Geologic Map of Alaska to create different lithology datasets. The appendices are each provided as XLSX and CSV files. Also included is a CSV with the results of the scoring analysis showing for each subwatershed (HUC12) the score for each source data layer, total...
