Remote camera stations were set up in Lassen Volcanic National Park from August to October 2017 and June to September 2018 to document occurrence of mesocarnivores and other wildlife. 126 cameras were set up at 32 primary sampling units (clusters of two to four cameras) throughout the park. Random locations for primary sampling units were chosen using a 3-km sampling grid over the park area. The dataset contains all species observed within the study time-frame, the date and time of observation and the number of individuals detected as well as identification for individual locations, cameras and images. Of the three target species of conservation concern (Pacific fisher (Pekania pennanti), Pacific marten (Martes...

This dataset includes hourly stream temperature data for 139 temperature logger sites throughout the Lahontan Basin Region of Northern Nevada and Eastern California. Data loggers were part a study beginning in 2017, with data available through 2019 for most locations. The spatial data layer contains site locations, geographic information, data summaries, mean August stream temperatures, and modeled NorWeST stream temperatures. The Wet-Dry delineation file contains daily flow status estimates derived from stream temperature data for each site. The Site Visit file contains the date and time of the site visit along with associated information on site flow conditions, water depths, logger conditions, and stream logger...

To assess the distribution, frequency, and global extent of riverine hypoxia, we compiled 118 million paired dissolved oxygen (DO) and water temperature measurements from 125,158 unique locations in rivers in 93 countries and territories across the globe. The dataset also includes site characteristics derived from StreamCat, the National Hydrography and HydroAtlas datasets and proximal land cover derived from MODIS-based IGBP land cover types compiled using Google Earth Engine (GEE).

The HJ_Andrews_Temperature file contains temperature data (in C°) by logger serial number, site, and usage for the study period. The HJ_Andrews_Pressure file contains pressure data (in kPa) by logger serial number, site, and usage for the study period. The HJ_Andrews_Points spatial data layer contains site locations, geographic information, data summaries, and mean August stream temperatures. The HJ_Andrews_Wet_Dry delineation file contains daily flow status estimates derived from stream and air temperature...

Yuma Ridgway’s rail (Rallus obsoletus yumanensis, hereafter, "rail") are an endangered species for which patches of emergent marsh within the Salton Sea watershed comprise a substantial portion of habitat for the species’ disjointed range in the southwestern United States. These areas of emergent marsh include: 1) marshes managed by federal (particularly the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Sonny Bono Salton Sea National Wildlife Refuge (SBSSNWR), state (California Department of Fish and Wildlife), and local (Imperial Irrigation District) resource agencies that are sustained by direct deliveries of Colorado River water; and 2) unmanaged marshes sustained by agricultural drainage water. Management of rail habitat...

The data were collected summer, 2016, 2017, and 2018. Continuous temperature loggers were deployed along the Pend Oreille River between Albeni Falls Dam and the Box Canyon Dam. Loggers were checked every 1-2 weeks throughout the summer.

A key objective of the Trinity River Restoration Program (TRRP) is maintaining and enhancing other wildlife populations through the restoration initiatives. For herpetological species, the foothill yellow-legged frog and western pond turtle have been identified as important species on which to focus monitoring efforts due to their status as California state-listed Species of Concern. As a result, considerable prior effort has focused on understanding the distribution and demography of these species, both on the main Trinity River and on the South Fork Trinity River as a comparison population (potentially representing pre-dam population status). These studies have highlighted differences in life-history traits of...

This feature estimates the geographic extent of the sagebrush biome in the United States. It was created for the Western Association of Fish and Wildlife Agency’s (WAFWA) Sagebrush Conservation Strategy publication as a visual for the schematic figures. This layer does not represent the realized distribution of sagebrush and should not be used to summarize statistics about the distribution or precise location of sagebrush across the landscape. This layer is intended to generalize the sagebrush biome distribution using Landsat derived classified vegetation rasters (Rigge at al. 2019), Bureau of Land Management-designated Habitat Management Areas, state-designated Priority Areas for Conservation for sage-grouse, the...

Data includes functional group cover of exotic annual grasses and deep rooted perennial grasses within the first five years after the 2015 Soda wildfire across different post-fire restoration treatments. Additional landscape and restoration treatment covariates hypothesized to influence post-fire invasive annual grass and perennial grass cover are included.

The dataset includes specifics on liver tissue and blood plasma anticoagulant rodenticide concentrations measured using high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. This data release supersedes Herring, G., and Eagles-Smith, C.A., 2022, Anticoagulant rodenticide concentrations in blood and tissue of California condors and turkey vultures: U.S. Geological Survey data release, https://doi.org/10.5066/P9NHPLHX. Data includes cover and presence (within microsites and 13 m radius plots) of three exotic annual grass, Bromus tectorum, Taeniatherum caput-medusae, and Ventenata dubia and presence (within microsites) of four perennial bunchgrass species (Agropyron cristatum, Pseudoroegneria spicata, Poa secunda, Elymus elymoides) within the first five years after the 2015 Soda wildfire. Additional landscape and weather covariates hypothesized to influence landscape resistance to invasion are included.

Forest harvest is one of the primary landscape-scale management actions affecting riparian forests of the Pacific Northwest, U.S, yet the effect of harvest on headwater steam amphibians is largely understudied. Existing information is often limited because of the difficulty separating movement and emigration processes from occupancy and abundance estimates. We designed a before-after control-impact experiment to account for instream movement in the responses of three unique headwater stream amphibians to clearcut logging as part of the Trask River Watershed Experimental Study in the Oregon Coast Range. We captured and marked larval tailed frogs (Ascaphus truei), Coastal giant salamanders (Dicamptodon tenebrosus),...

This dataset contains information on the survival of sagebrush seedlings originating from seed collected from 3 'local' populations over 2+ years. Datasets presented consist of individual seedling survival, growth and reproduction data as well as population level results as they relate to the differences in modeled and calculated climate variables and the differences between the climatic conditions of the seed source sites and the common garden sites.

This dataset contains detection-nondetection data for territorial pairs of Golden Eagles at survey sites randomly selected from a grid of equal-sized (13.9 km2) hexagonal sample cells overlaid across the region of interest in Coastal Southern California during 2016 and 2017. We partitioned surveys within seasons based on approximate transition dates for stages in the breeding cycle of golden eagles in the study region: courtship (15 Dec-28 Feb), incubation (1 Mar-30 Apr), nestling (1 May-15 Jun), and the fledging-dependency period (16 June-Jul 30), totaling 4 possible sampling periods per year. This dataset also describes the proportion of land-cover types from four general categories (urban, open grassland, scrub...

Water temperature data were collected in summer 2018 and 2019. Temperature data loggers were deployed in tributary confluences and the mainstem of the lower Priest River between Priest Lake Outlet Dam and the confluence with the Pend Oreille River. Data loggers were checked every 2 to 3 weeks throughout the summer. Data for Lagrangian longitudinal thermal profiles were obtained on August 21, 2018 and August 7, 2019.
