This database includes water quality records compiled at the request of the Bureau of Land Management for the Uinta Basin in Utah and Colorado. All data contained within this database are publically available via the United States Geological Survey’s National Water Information System (NWIS) database (available at https://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis). Data collected and provided by the states of Utah and Colorado were also analyzed, however, this data had also been submitted to, and was available in, NWIS by the time this database was compiled. This database includes all available water-quality data for the Uinta Basin. For groundwater samples this includes data up to October 24, 2014; for surface water samples this...

The U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the Harris-Galveston Subsidence District, City of Houston, Fort Bend Subsidence District, and Lone Star Groundwater Conservation District created this dataset that provides water‐level measurements, altitudes, and changes in water-level altitudes in the Chicot, Evangeline, and Jasper aquifers in the Houston‐Galveston region, Texas. The dataset shows current-year (2016-17) water-level altitudes, depth to water, and 1-year (2016-17) water-level changes of select wells screened in the Chicot, Jasper, or Evangeline aquifers. The water‐level measurements in the dataset are built upon and stored in the National Water Information System: Web Interface, groundwater information,...

Water surface elevations within seven Willamette River off-channel features (OCF; alcoves and side channels) were measured using submerged pressure transducers. Transducers were installed from late May through mid-October, 2016, when discharge of the Willamette River was between approximately 5,500 and 45,000 cubic feet per second at Salem, Oregon (USGS gage 14191000) and 3,500 to 17,500 cubic feet per second at Harrisburg, Oregon (USGS gage 14166000). Pressure transducer sensor depth was measured at all seven sites. For five of the sites, pressure transducer sensor depths were converted to water surface elevations by surveying the water surface at each transducer with a real-time kinematic global positioning system...
The alluvial aquifer of the Mississippi embayment lies within a syncline plunging south towards the Gulf of Mexico with the axis of the syncline roughly following the Mississippi River (Cushing and others, 1964, Hart and others, 2008). The trough of the syncline is comprised of alluvial and terrace deposits of Quaternary age (Ackerman, 1996). A potentiometric-surface map of the Mississippi River Valley alluvial aquifer represents the altitude at which water would stand in tightly cased wells completed at any location within the study area (Schrader, 2015). Using the altitude of water levels measured in the study area, the potentiometric-surface map depicts points of equal altitude with contours denoting a given...

This dataset contains records of water level and water temperature measurements from select wetlands at Saint Marks National Wildlife Refuge. These data were collected as part of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Amphibian Research and Monitoring Initiative (ARMI). Beginning in July 2010, hydrologic monitoring equipment was installed in 24 wetlands. Instrumentation included a staff gage and a non-vented continuous logging pressure transducer (Onset Comp U20) that logged data at 1-hour intervals. An additional 35 sites were instrumented in January 2014. Data for individual wetlands covers different time periods based on different phases of studies and sensor battery failures. In shallow, ephemeral wetlands these...

Mendenhall and others (1916) published depth-to-water data compiled in 1910 for all known wells in the San Joaquin Valley, California. Data for the 3,429 wells having depth-to-water of greater than zero feet were used to construct an interpolated depth-to-water surface for the entire SJV. This map represents groundwater levels in approximately 1910, prior to extensive development of the groundwater system. A depth-to-water contour map with contour lines of 5, 10, 15, and 25 meters below land surface was then drawn from this raster surface.

This data release supports the following publication: Hittle, Elizabeth, 2017, Longshore Water-Current Velocity and the Potential for Transport of Contaminants: A Pilot Study in Lake Erie from Walnut Creek to Presque Isle State Park Beaches, Erie, Pennsylvania, June and August 2015: U.S. Geological Survey Open-File Report 2016–1206 126 p., https://doi.org/10.3133/ofr20161206. This data set contains water quality data (temperature, specific conductance, and turbidity) measured and recorded on June 25, 2015 with a YSI EXO probe and depth measured and recorded by a design analysis 700H pressure transducer. The data was collected along select transects at ~300 meter spacing by moving the probe down and up throughout...

This portion of the data release presents water column dissolved nutrient concentration data and water quality parameters from samples collected in the Elwha River estuary, Washington, in 2006, 2007, 2013, and 2014 (USGS Field Activities L-15-13-PS, L-24-13-PS, T-R5-13-PS, T-R6-13-PS, T-RA-14-PS, 2014-614-FA, 2014-628-FA, 2014-633-FA, 2014-666-FA). Water column samples were collected by hand in acid-washed opaque bottles from multiple locations. Water quality was measured using a handheld Hydolab Data Sonde 4a. The locations of water sample collections were determined with a hand-held global positioning system (GPS). The water samples were filtered through GF/F filters immediately after collection. The filtrate...

This metadata record describes monthly input and output data covering the period 1900-2015 for a water-balance model described in McCabe and Wolock (2011). The input datasets are precipitation (PPT) and air temperature (TAV) from the PRISM group at Oregon State University. The model outputs include estimated potential evapotranspiration (PET), actual evapotranspiration (AET), runoff (RUN) (streamflow per unit area), soil moisture storage (STO), and snowfall (SNO). The datasets are arranged in tables of monthly total or average values measured in millimeters or degrees C and then multiplied by 100. The data are indexed by the identifier PRISMID, which refers to an ASCII raster of cells in an associated file named...

This U.S. Geological Survey data release provides the data and citations for selected tables and figures in “Agriculture-A river runs through it-The connections between agriculture and water quality”. This Circular is based on the National Water-Quality Assessment Project’s study of Agricultural Chemicals: Sources, Behavior, and Transport. This study focused on the connections between agriculture and water quality by examining multiple components of the hydrological system within agricultural areas to improve the understanding of how agricultural chemicals are transported into and through streams and groundwater. These data support the following publication: Capel, P.D., McCarthy, K.A., Coupe, R.H., Grey, K.M.,...
