This is the collection of original paper gamma-ray logs, copies and other items that are associated with the gamma-ray logs housed at the Indiana Geological Survey. They are stored in 12 file cabinets. This represents all of the original paper copies since 1978 when the collection began. Each log can be found filed in the original file, used mainly as a master file, as well as by county, the working file. The paper logs have been digitized made available to the public at https://igws.indiana.edu/borehole-logs in .las and .pdf format.
The Wyoming State Geological Survey (WSGS) publishes geologic maps used in mineral exploration, energy resource development, mitigating geologic hazards, and understanding of local geology. The WSGS distributes these maps on its website as Portable Document Files (PDF), Georeferenced Tagged Image File Format Files (GeoTIFF), Keyhole Markup Language Files (KML), Geographic Information System (GIS) shapefiles, and as printed paper copies.

Collections of 1 x 2, 1 x 3, and 2x 3-inch petrographic thin sections, mostly of sediments and sedimentary rocks from Nebraska. A few thin sections of igneous and metamorphic rocks from the subsurface of the state, and a few incidental thin-sections from various specimens collected outside of the state.Several full and emeritus faculty members (at least 5) have individual holdings of thin sections generated in the process of performing geological survey duties.Collections will almost certainly be lost in the absence of an enforced acquisition policy.

James Sell was a native of Arizona, born in Casa Grande in 1930. He served the U.S. Army as a radio operator in the Korean War. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal and two Bronze Star Medals. On his return, he studied at the Colorado School of Mines and graduated in 1955. He earned his master's degree from the University of Arizona. He was the Southwest Exploration Manager for ASARCO and retired after 32 years. Sell was a member of the Arizona Geological Society and the Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration. This collection consists of over 1,800 folders containing geologic reports and mineral exploration data from around the world, but primarily from Arizona and other states in the Southwest. Sell...

Larry Kersey was Vice President of Alanco, Ltd., a mineral resource company mostly active during the 1980s and early 1990s. This collection consists of economic geologic information on several properties across Arizona. Many of the properties were in Mohave and Cochise counties. The collection contains geologic reports, maps, assays, field notes and related materials.

This collection consists of economic geologic information on mining properties and prospects across Arizona and surrounding states. Richard Mieritz was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin before moving to Arizona. He worked at the Silver Bell for ASARCO during the late 1940s. He was later a consultant based out of Phoenix. Records show he was a registered engineer and geologist in Arizona from the 1950s until his death in 1995.

This collection is comprised of digital, slide and print photographs, as well as a small percentage of videos taken during engineering geology related field projects from 1975-2020. Many of these photos document field work related to major geologic hazards such as earthquakes, active faults, climate change, coastal erosion, landslides, and frozen debris lobes. It also includes field work photos related to surficial geologic mapping. There are approximately 133,000 photos, slides and videos that need to be culled, documented and archived. Approximately 40% are images of vegetation and landscapes from video stills and time lapse photos that can be easily correlated to location information. The remaining 60% of the...

The "Historical Aerial Photographs of Maryland, 1937-1990, County Collection" consists of black and white aerial photos (9"x9", 1:20,000-scale) from several time periods: 1937-1938, 1949, 1951-1953, 1957, 1961-1964, 1968, 1970-1972, 1979-1981, and 1983-1990. These photographs were usually flown or otherwise acquired by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), or the private firm Air Photographics, Inc. (API). USDA and USGS photographs were donated to the Maryland Geological Survey (MGS), mainly by the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA). MGS purchased the copyrighted API photographs. Due to copyright limitations, the public may view the paper API photographs but...

The lithology log collection consists of 70,000 paper logs; some of which are stored in the Boston Office (10 Park Plaza) of MHD. The collection has been recorded electronically in a database. The electronic records of logs were collected and catalogued in two time periods, from 1940 to 1998, and from 1998 to present. All logs prior to 1998 from various contractors are in an electronic database that is linked to scanned tiff images of each borehole. The work of scanning the lithology logs, was a project undertaken by Boston College (BC), and consisted of 60,000 borehole logs, from 10,000 locations. The data from the BC work is part of a database controlled by the Massachusetts Water Resource Authority and they share...

State and Basin-wide coal crop/extent, thickness, depth, elevation, quality, availability for mining, and mined area GIS layers and metadata. The maps/digital files used for these studies were compiled from data obtained from a variety of public and private sources and have varying degrees of completeness and accuracy. The maps are designed for regional assessment and have a resolution of 1:500,000. Features or details of features smaller than about one-half mile across may not be accurately portrayed or may be omitted altogether. Much of this information is available online at https://isgs.illinois.edu/research/coal/maps.

River and flood plain borings drilled for the U. S. Army-Corps of Engineers detailed surveys of the entire floodplain of the Ohio River from Pittsburgh PA to Powhatan Point, OH. An index sheet and a series of 280 charts were produced by the Ohio River Board of Engineers between 1911 and 1914 and revised in 1930. Each chart illustrates Ohio River bathymetry, topographic elevations, cultural and navigational features, land-use, property owners, lithologic composition of river bank and bar sediments, and subsurface lithologic data and, in some cases bedrock elevations, from river bank and river bottom borings. All borings are numbered from the Ohio River left bank to the right bank and occur in a line perpendicular...
