This dataset represents 505 campsites along the Colorado River in Grand Canyon with associated debris flow probabilities calculated for approximately a 100-year period (Griffiths and others, 2004) and geomorphic attributes mapped by the U.S. Geological Survey, Grand Canyon Monitoring and Research Center (USGS-GCMRC) (Hadley and others, 2018). The campsite polygons were developed as part of a master campsite database that was a collaborative effort to maintain between the National Park Service in Grand Canyon National Park and the USGS-GCMRC. Debris flow probabilities have been added as an attribute from ungauged tributary watersheds published in 2004 (Griffiths and others, 2004). Area and percentages of campsites...

As part of a large-scale study of nitrate contamination on Kirtland Air Force Base in central New Mexico, the USGS collected groundwater and surface water samples for artificial sweetener analyses. Samples were collected following standard USGS procedures (U.S. Geological Survey, variously dated), filtered to 0.45 microns, and frozen until analysis. Artificial sweeteners analyzed include neotame, acesulfame-K, aspartame, saccharin, and sucralose. Of the 49 sites sampled, 17 sites had measurable detections of artificial sweeteners. Neotame was the most commonly detected sweetener (n=12) followed by saccharin (n=5), acesulfame-K (n=2), aspartame (n=1), and sucralose (n=0). Concentrations ranged from 0.0003–0.011 μg/L...

This dataset represents 740 tributary canyons and/or watersheds adjacent to the Colorado River in Grand Canyon with associated debris flow probabilities from 2004. Also, these data include tributarys canyon and/or watersheds to Glen Canyon and several smaller watersheds in Grand Canyon where debris flow data is currently unavailable. Historic probabilities of debris flow occurrence were estimated by modeling the known frequency distribution with drainage basin parameters observed to control the process by which debris flows initiate and travel to the river. Observations from 1984 through 2003 provide a 20-year record of all debris flows that reached the Colorado River in Grand Canyon, and repeat photography provides...

Airborne magnetic surveys were conducted in Oklahoma from August 11th, 2017-October 28th, 2017, by Goldak Airborne Surveys. Here we present downloadable flight line data from those surveys in comma-separated values (csv format). Three areas were flown along a draped surface with a nominal survey height above ground of 120 meters. The flight line spacing for these areas was 200 to 400 m for Area 123, in southwestern Oklahoma; 1000 m for Area 4, in northwestern Oklahoma, and 800 m for Area 5, in north-central Oklahoma. For each area control lines were flown at ten times the traverse line spacing. The surveys were flown to map subsurface geologic variations including ancient magmatic bodies, faults, and other geologic...

This dataset contains absolute-gravity measurements made using an A-10 absolute gravity meter (Micro-g Lacoste, Inc.) between 2009 and 2017 in the Big Chino Subbasin, Yavapai County, Arizona. Measurements were made about 3 times per year at a total of 33 different stations. Data are presented in tabular form, including relevant parameters used for processing. Data were output by g software (Micro-g Lacoste, Inc.) version 9.12.04.23. A correction for laser-frequency drift was applied, based on regular calibration of the HeNe laser used in the A-10 against an iodine-stabilized laser. A second soil-moisture correction was applied based on satellite soil-moisture measurements, an infiltration model, and the elevation...

In 1954 researchers at the USGS Great Lakes Science Center conducted 11 research cruises on Lake Michigan during which 779 bathythermographs were cast to collect temperature profile data (temperature at depth). Bathythermographs of that era recorded water pressure and temperature data by mechanically etching them as a curve on a glass slide. Data was collected from the glass slide by projecting the image of the curve, superimposing a grid, and taking a photo of it, thereby creating a bathythermogram. Data collection personnel could then read the data from the curve. This USGS data release is a digitized set of those original bathythermogram print photos and the temperature and depth data the project team collected...

This is the evaluation data associated with the project: “Status and Trends of Deciduous Communities in the Bighorn Mountains”. The aim of the study is to assess the current trends of deciduous communities in the Bighorn National Forest in north-central Wyoming. The data here represents phase I of the project, completed in FY2017. The USGS created a synthesis map of coniferous and deciduous communities in the Bighorn Mountains of Wyoming using a species distribution modeling approach developed in the Wyoming Landscape Conservation Initiative (WLCI) (Assal et al. 2015). The modeling framework utilized a number of topographic covariates and temporal remote sensing data from the early, mid and late growing season to...

This dataset supercedes an earlier data release and includes all previous data in addition to data from 2019. These data represent the network-adjusted results of relative- and absolute-gravity surveys. Relative-gravity surveys were carried out using a Micro-g LaCoste D-series relative-gravity meter. The effect of solid Earth tides and ocean loading were removed from the data. Instrument drift was removed by evaluating gravity change during repeated measurements at one or more base stations. Absolute-gravity surveys were carried out using a Micro-g LaCoste, Inc. A-10 absolute-gravity meter. Vertical gradients between the different measuring heights of the absolute- and relative-gravity meters were measured using...

This data release is a subset of the National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) water bodies, specifically lakes Mendocino and Sonoma in the Russian River watershed. The National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) is a feature-based database that interconnects and uniquely identifies the stream segments or reaches that make up the nation's surface water drainage system. NHD data was originally developed at 1:100,000-scale and exists at that scale for the whole country. This high-resolution NHD, generally developed at 1:24,000/1:12,000 scale, adds detail to the original 1:100,000-scale NHD. (Data for Alaska, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands was developed at high-resolution, not 1:100,000 scale.) Local resolution NHD is being developed...

Controlled source audio-frequency magnetotellurics (CSAMT) data were collected in the Big Chino Valley and Paulden areas, Yavapai County, Arizona, to better understand the hydrogeology of the area. CSAMT data provide vertical cross-section (profile) data about the resistivity of the subsurface, which may be related to lithologic boundaries and (or) grain-size distribution in the subsurface. CSAMT involves transmitting a current at various frequencies in one location, and measuring resistivity differences between electrodes spaced along a receiver line several kilometers from the transmitter. Data were collected using a GGT-30 transmitter and GDP32-II receiver (Zonge international. Inc.). Data processing and inversions...
