This database consists of geologic slip rate information and metadata used to constrain NSHM23 geodetic and geologic deformation models.

This data release contains two datasets that depict fault rupture on the East Anatolian and Çardak faults resulting from the Mw7.8 and Mw7.5 earthquakes in Turkey (Türkiye). It contains two additional datasets that describe satellite imagery coverage and observation gaps. The 6 February 2023 earthquake sequence caused >500 km of combined surface rupture on the primarily left-lateral strike-slip East Anatolian and Çardak faults. The two datasets represent (1) simplified fault traces inferred from displacement discontinuities in interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) scenes mapped at 1:750,000 scale (“simple_faults”) and (2) detailed mapping of fault surface rupture observed on high-resolution (<1.0 m/pix)...

This data release includes geochronological data for the Airport East trench site (40.795359°, -111.950438°) on the Taylorsville fault of the West Valley fault zone (WVFZ). The WVFZ comprises intrabasin faults in the hanging wall of the Wasatch fault zone in the northern part of Salt Lake Valley, Utah. Samples for radiocarbon and luminescence dating were collected from two paleoseismic trenches in August–September 2015. Laboratory data include four optically stimulated luminescence ages and 14 radiocarbon ages for charcoal extracted from bulk sediment samples. This database has been approved for release by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Although this database has been subjected to rigorous review and is substantially...

This Data Release contains version 3.0 of two related earthquake geology databases for use in the 2023 U.S. National Seismic Hazard Model. The databases are: 1) A fault sections database (“NSHM23_FSD_v3”), which depicts the geometry of faults capable of hosting independent earthquakes, and 2) an earthquake geology site information database (“NSHM23_EQGeoDB_v3”), which contains fault slip rate constraints at points. These databases cover the 12 western U.S. states: Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, Nevada, Arizona, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico and Texas. Datasets containing crustal fault information for Alaska and the central and eastern United States were prepared by Bender and others, 2021 and Thompson...
This page contains documentation for the related earthquake geology inputs for the Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands for the National Seismic Hazard Model (NSHM) 2025 update.

This data release contains data sets associated with the 2023 50-State National Seismic Hazard Model Update. The 2023 50-State National Seimsic Hazard Model (NSHM) Update includes an update to the NSHMs for the conterminous U.S (CONUS, last updated in 2018), Alaska (AK, last updated in 2007), and Hawaii (last updated in 2001). Data sets include inputs like seismicity catalogs used as input to the smoothed seismicity model and updated induced seismicity zone polygons in the central and eastern U.S., as well as outputs like hazard curves and uniform-hazard ground motion values. Plots of selected data sets are also included. The data sets provided here are primarily for the 2023 CONUS NHSM and 2023 AK NSHM. Additional...

Version 3.0 is now available. Please see new data release here: https://doi.org/10.5066/P9AWINWZ. This Data Release contains preliminary versions of two related databases: 1) A fault sections database (“NSHM23_FSD_v2”), which depicts the geometry of faults capable of hosting independent earthquakes, and 2) An earthquake geology site information database (“NSHM23_EQGeoDB_v2”), which contains fault slip-rate constraints at points. These databases were prepared in anticipation of updates to the National Seismic Hazard Model (NSHM) 2023. Fault-specific geologic parameters for the NSHM have not been updated since the 2014 NSHM release. The datasets include the states of Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, Nevada,...

This Data Release contains preliminary versions of three related geologic input databases for the Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands (PRVI) region (62°–70° W and 16°–21° N) of the United States: 1) A fault sections database (“NSHM2025_FaultSections_PRVI_v1’”), which depicts the geometry of faults capable of hosting independent earthquakes, 2) a fault-zone polygon database ("NSHM2025_FaultPolygons_ PRVI_v1"), which depicts the geometry of distributed fault zones capable of hosting repeated large magnitude events but a specific fault source remains unidentified, and 3) An earthquake geology site information database (“NSHM2025_EQGeoDB_ PRVI_v1”), which contains fault slip-rate and earthquake recurrence constraints...

This data release includes geochronological data for a natural exposure of the Wasatch fault, Utah at the Deep Creek site (39.507462°, -111.861790°). Laboratory data include 11 optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) ages for quartz, 23 charcoal radiocarbon ages, and 342 portable OSL (bulk luminescence) measurements. The radiocarbon and luminescence samples were collected November 2019 and October 2020.

This data release includes geochronological data for a paleoseismic trench exposure of the Sawtooth fault, Idaho at the Dutch Lake site (44.343806, -115.17643). Laboratory data include 14 charcoal radiocarbon ages processed at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) National Ocean Sciences Accelerator Mass Spectrometry Facility (NOSAMS) and 8 infrared stimulated luminescence (IRSL) ages for feldspar processed at the U.S. Geological Survey Luminescence Dating Laboratory. The radiocarbon and luminescence samples were collected September 2022.
