This dataset consists of points representing selected well site locations and water-level measurements used by Lopes and Allander (2009) to develop autumn 2006 groundwater-level altitude contours for Smith and Mason Valleys, and the lower Walker River basin, Nevada. Since the publication of Lopes and Allander (2009), the positional coordinates and land-surface altitudes at selected well sites used to develop autumn 2006 groundwater-level contours in that report were updated as part of a 2022 U.S. Geological Survey study (Davies and Naranjo, 2022).

This dataset consists of a polyline representing a groundwater divide for spring 1972, Smith Valley, Nevada digitized from plate 2 of the 1976 publication: Rush, F.E.,and Schroer, C.V., 1976, Geohydrology of Smith Valley, Nevada with special reference to the water-use period 1953-72: Nevada Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Water Resources Bulletin 43, 43p.

These contours represent static groundwater levels based on depth-to-water measurements made at 165 monitoring wells during water years 2016-2020 in Smith Valley and Mason Valley, Nevada. For each monitoring well, the median groundwater-level altitude during the five-year period (2016-2020) was used for developing the groundwater-level contours. Depth-to-water measurements were collected by the USGS and the Nevada Division of Water Resources (NDWR).

This dataset represents one of three derived outlets or "pour points" for each 12-digit hydrologic unit (HU12) in the Watershed Boundary Dataset (WBD) snapshot delivered with NHDPlus V2.1. The three related pour point locations, each delivered in a stand-alone dataset, are: "from" (fpp) and "to" (tpp) points that identify the location where flow leaves the HU12 polygon based on a flow direction raster, and a third "vector pour point" (vpp) selected "upstream" used to identify flow confluences near the "from" and "to" pour point locations. The points are derived from the NHDPlus V2.1 flow direction rasters and the WBD snapshot delivered with NHDPlus V2.1. This metadata document describes the "vector" pourpoints (vpp).

This dataset consists of a polygon representing the approximate maximum extent of Gumboot Lake as published on plate 1 of the report Effects of ground-water development on the water regimen of Paradise Valley, Humboldt County, Nevada, 1948-1968 and Hydrologic Reconnaissance of the Tributary Areas (Nevada Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Water Resources Bulletin 39).

This USGS data release contains the regional potentiometric contours representing the regional potentiometric surface for Clark County, Nevada, 2009-2015. Contours represent the groundwater-level altitude with a 250-foot contour interval and were created from groundwater elevations from 58 wells and surface elevations from 5 springs.
This dataset consists of three polygons representing approximate elevation-derived extents of Gumboot Lake based on observations published in the report Effects of ground-water development on the water regimen of Paradise Valley, Humboldt County, Nevada, 1948-1968 and Hydrologic Reconnaissance of the Tributary Areas (Nevada Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Water Resources Bulletin 39): 1) based on 1952-1953 lake elevation of 4,320 feet, 2) based on estimated average area value of 2,000 acres, and 3) based on estimated maximum area value of 10,000 acres.

These contours represent static groundwater levels based on depth-to-water measurements in Smith Valley and Mason Valley, Nevada, for fall 2006. Groundwater-level contours were first published by Lopes and Allander (2009) and subsequently published electronically by Medina and others (2022). Since the time of the dataset's original publication, the position and land-surface altitude at 23 monitoring wells in Smith Valley used to develop the original 2006 groundwater-level contours have been updated. As such, 10 contours in Smith Valley were revised using the updated monitoring well locations and land-surface altitudes while maintaining, to the extent possible, the original interpretation made by Lopes and Allander...

This dataset consists of points representing selected monitoring well locations and median groundwater-level altitudes for the water year period 1991-1995 that were used to develop groundwater-level contours in Smith and Mason Valleys, Nevada. Groundwater-level measurements were collected by the USGS and the Nevada Division of Water Resources (NDWR).
This U.S. Geological Survey data release consists of a tabular dataset containing stream temperature data. Data were collected every 12-hours from 15 sites in Soldier Meadows, Black Rock Desert - High Rock Canyon Emigrant Trails National Conservation Area, Nevada. The sites were established by the Bureau of Land Management - Winnemucca District Office in 2017. The data release includes tabular data of site names, date and time of temperature measurement, and stream temperature in degrees Celsius. The site locations are included below as a shapefile, exported from the National Water Information System (NWIS) Mapper. A site list can be accessed here: National Water Information System site list

This polygon represents the areal extent used to estimate groundwater-level and groundwater storage-volume change in Smith Valley and Mason Valley, Nevada. Each groundwater-level dataset used in this study (1970, 1995, 2006, 2020) contained a unique areal extent because the monitoring wells used to create each dataset was different and as a result, the extent of groundwater-level contours differed. Defining a common extent among all datasets was needed to evaluate water-level change and groundwater storage-volume change using a consistent approach.

These contours represent static groundwater levels based on depth-to-water measurements in Smith Valley and Mason Valley, Nevada. Groundwater-level contours for Smith Valley were first published by Rush and Schroer (1976) and subsequently published electronically by Welborn and Medina (2022). The Smith Valley groundwater-level contours represent conditions in the spring of 1972. Groundwater-level contours for Mason Valley were first published by Huxel and Harris (1969) and subsequently published electronically by Lopes and others (2006). The Mason Valley groundwater-level contours represent conditions during 1965-1966. The original groundwater-level contours from Smith Valley and Mason Valley (Huxel and Harris,...
