This digital dataset contains the soil data for the updated Central Valley Hydrologic Model (CVHM2). The soil data is based on California Department of Water Resource’s C2VSim’s fine grid model soil curve number data set (C2VSimFG Version 1.0 - Datasets; CNRA, 2011). These values were originally obtained from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) Soil Survey Geographic Database (SSURGO) soil map of the State of California (USDA, 2004), and then an area-weighted average value for each hydrologic soil group within each subregion was calculated to the C2VSim element. Data were collected in the Sacramento River Deep Water Ship Channel (West Sacramento, CA) in support of a whole-ecosystem experiment investigating whether phytoplankton production and biomass would respond to nitrate additions, which could potentially be exported to food-limited regions in the Sacramento–San Joaquin Delta. The experiment was conducted from July 2 to September 18, 2019. Publications presenting ecosystem metabolism and hydrodynamic results from the experiment are under review, and a publication presenting the overall experiment results is in process. This digital dataset contains the Warm-Dry (WD) climate scenario data used for the Salinas and Carmel Rivers Basin Study (SCRBS). The Warm-Dry (WD) climate scenario is based on the 10th percentile change in precipitation and the 10th percentile change in temperature. The files included in this child item are the daily 270-meter gridded spatially distributed daily precipitation (PPT), maximum and minimum air temperature (TMX and TMN, respectively), and potential evapotranspiration (PET) from 1/1/2016 to 12/31/2100.

This digital dataset contains the baseline and future climate data used as the basis for analysis of current and future water supplies and demands in the Salinas and Carmel Rivers Basin Study (SCRBS). SCRBS uses a suite of integrated hydrologic models to explore impacts of future climate and socioeconomic scenarios on water supplies and demands in the basins. The Russian River Watershed (RRW) covers about 1,300 square miles (without Santa Rosa Plain) of urban, agricultural, and forested lands in northern Sonoma County and southern Mendocino County, California. Communities in the RRW depend on a combination of Russian River water and groundwater to meet their water-supply demands. This data release contains Uncrewed Aircraft System (UAS) imagery from three data collection campaigns (flights) over the Pepperwood Preserve in Sonoma County, California. Each child item contains: 1) Orthophoto, 2) Thermal, 3) Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), 4) L-band microwave brightness temperature (Tb), 5) Estimated soil moisture, and 6) Digital elevation model from orthoimagery. The overall footprint varies depending on the flight, and the third flight in May 2023 contains an additional set of high-resolution Tb and calculated soil moisture maps for a smaller footprint. There are 487 onshore oil and gas fields in California encompassing 3,392 square miles of aggregated area. The California State Water Resources Control Board (State Water Board) initiated a Regional Monitoring Program (RMP) in July 2015, intended to determine where and to what degree groundwater quality may be at potential risk to contamination related to oil and gas development activities including well stimulation, well integrity issues, produced water ponds, and underground injection. To determine aquifer characteristics, pneumatic slug tests were performed on selected zones and aquifers at a monitoring site near the Lost Hills oil field in the Southern San Joaquin Valley in Kern County. On May 30th and 31st, 2018, pneumatic slug tests were performed at five monitoring wells located at the multiple-well groundwater-monitoring site LHSP (26S/21E-07J1 through –J5) near Lost Hills, CA in the Southern San Joaquin Valley. Wild bee and butterfly samples were collected from the margins of agricultural fields located on five Conservation Areas in Missouri. In 2016 and 2017, samples were collected and composited by genera for a total of 90 samples. Samples were extracted via pressurized liquid extraction and solid phase extraction cleanup. Samples were analyzed for 168 pesticides and degradates using both gas and liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. Overall, 16 pesticides were detected.
