Wood products provide a relatively long-term carbon storage mechanism. Due to lack of consistent datasets on these products, however, it is difficult to determine their carbon contents. The main purpose of this study was to quantify forest disturbance and timber product output (TPO) using time series Landsat observations for North Carolina. The results revealed that North Carolina had an average forest disturbance rate of 178,000 ha per year from 1985 to 2010. The derived disturbance products were found to be highly correlated with TPO survey data, explaining up to 87% of the total variance of county level industrial roundwood production. State level TPO estimates derived using the Landsat-based disturbance products...

1. A wide range of spatially explicit simulation models have been developed to forecast landscape dynamics, including models for projecting changes in both vegetation and land use. While these models have generally been developed as separate applications, each with a separate purpose and audience, they share many common features. 2. We present a general framework, called a state-and-transition simulation model (STSM), which captures a number of these common features, accompanied by a software product, called ST-Sim, to build and run such models. The STSM method divides a landscape into a set of discrete spatial units and simulates the discrete state of each cell forward as a discrete-time-inhomogeneous stochastic...

This shapefile represents habitat suitability categories (High, Moderate, Low, and Non-Habitat) derived from a composite, continuous surface of sage-grouse habitat suitability index (HSI) values for Nevada and northeastern California formed from the multiplicative product of the spring, summer, and winter HSI surfaces.

To ensure comparable spatial and temporal coverage with similar historic datasets, we flew 32 east-west-oriented uniform transects (spaced at 15' latitude [27.8-km] intervals) when possible to the 2000-m isobath (includes shelf, slope, and rise waters). At the request of BOEM, we included six focal-area surveys nested within the overall broad transect survey area. Each focal-area survey consisted of ten 25-km, parallel transect lines targeting shelf waters and spaced at 6-km intervals. This pattern (broad survey lines and Focal Area survey lines) was surveyed during each oceanographic season: summer (June-July), fall (September-October), and winter (January-February) during 2011 and 2012. Aerial survey methods follow...

These files contain pressure data from two Solinst Levelogger Gold pressure transducers (Model 3001 LT F15/M5) and one Solinst barologger (Model 3001 LT F5/M1.5). The transducers are located next to temperature transducer locations Rod1 and Rod2 in the infiltration installation immediately up and downstream of Gabion 2 in the ephemeral channel of Vaughn Canyon.

Abstract(from:https://agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1029/2019WR024922)The rapid growth of data in water resources has created new opportunities to accelerate knowledge discovery with the use of advanced deep learning tools. Hybrid models that integrate theory with state‐of‐the art empirical techniques have the potential to improve predictions while remaining true to physical laws. This paper evaluates the Process‐Guided Deep Learning (PGDL) hybrid modeling framework with a use‐case of predicting depth‐specific lake water temperatures. The PGDL model has three primary components: a deep learning model with temporal awareness (long short‐term memory recurrence), theory‐based feedbacks (model penalties...

The data set includes delineation of sampling strata for the six study reaches of the UMRR Program’s LTRM element. Separate strata coverages exist for each of the three monitoring components (fish, vegetation, and water quality) to meet the differing sampling needs among components. Generally, the sampling strata consist of main channel, side channel, backwater, and impounded areas. The fish component further delineates a “shoreline” portion of the strata to be used for sampling gears deployed only along the shoreline. The data are raster in origin, with the center of each pixel representing the sampling location. Cell size is typically 50 meters, although several water quality strata are at 200 meter cell size.

Separate data for floodplain elevation and bathymetry were collected on the Upper Mississippi River System (UMRS) by the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Upper Mississippi River Restoration (UMRR) program. While many information needs can be met by using these data separately, in many cases seamless elevation data across the river and its floodplain are needed. This seamless elevation surface was generated by merging lidar (i.e., floodplain elevation) and bathymetry data. Merging the data required special processing in the areas of transition between the two sources of data.

In 2021 and 2022, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the Idaho Department of Water Resources (IDWR), drilled and constructed well SEP 16 (431900112593601) approximately 6 miles south-southeast of Big Southern Butte in Butte County, Idaho. The purpose of the well installation was to collect geologic, geophysical, and hydrologic data. On July 13, 2022, the USGS Idaho National Laboratory Project Office (INLPO) collected select geophysical logs within the cased well including natural gamma, neutron, neutron porosity, and gamma-gamma dual density logs. Gyroscopic deviation data were also collected during geophysical surveying to account for the horizontal and vertical displacement of the well. On...

This dataset provides transboundary census information in the Crown of the Continent Ecosystem. In Canada the data are from the 2011 census collected at the dissemination block level, in the United States the data are assembled from the 2010 census. Data on total population and total dwellings in each census unit are available. This dataset was developed by the Crown Managers Partnership, as part of a transboundary collaborative management initiative for the Crown of the Continent Ecosystem, based on commonly identified management priorities that are relevant at the landscape scale. The CMP is collaborative group of land managers, scientists, and stakeholder in the CCE. For more information on the CMP and its collaborators,...

The baseline map of the Butte Basin, the representative basin from the Central Valley, was generated first by delineating the extent of the landscape to be modeled, in agreement with the basin boundaries identified by the Central Valley Joint Venture. The Butte Basin (CV) encompasses a region approximately 44km x 64 km, and the map used contains 10,698 individual habitat patches and 179,964 acres of possible foreageable area. Patch habitat types were identified by a combination of USDA CropScape data (to identify agricultural habitat patches including rice and corn) and other local mapping data made available through collaboration with USGS. Habitat flood schedules were generated using the Water Evaluation and Planning...
