This dataset represents the railways within a 5km buffer of the Crown of the Continent Ecosytem. This dataset contains all freely available spatial information on railways within the Crown of the Continent. Due to the free nature of the data, it is of mixed quality and should not necessarily be considered an exhaustive representaion.

This layer represents historic fire perimeters within 50km of the Crown of the Continent Ecosystem (CCE) from 1931 to 2013. This dataset was developed by the Crown Managers Partnership, as part of a transboundary collaborative management initiative for the Crown of the Continent Ecosystem, based on commonly identified management priorities that are relevant at the landscape scale. The CMP is collaborative group of land managers, scientists, and stakeholder in the CCE. For more information on the CMP and its collaborators, programs, and projects please visit: http://crownmanagers.org/. This dataset was first published in May 2016.Note: There was not any publically comparable data available for the fire cause for...

This dataset shows surface wellsites related to energy resource in the Crown of the Continent with a 50km buffer. This dataset contains all freely available spatial information on surface wellsites related to energy resources in the Crown of the Continent area. Due to the free nature of the data, it is of mixed quality and should not be considered inclusive of all wellsites actually in the region. Current as of July7, 2016

This data release contains information on gravity cores that were collected by the U.S. Geological Survey in the area of San Pablo Bay and Carquinez Strait, California in 1990, 1991, and 2000. Ten (10) pdf files describe gravity cores that were split, photographed, and imaged by X-rays, and another pdf file contains a core-log legend. In addition, a shapefile provides sample collection data. Seventy-two gravity cores were collected by the U.S. Geological Survey in 1990, 1991, and 2000 from San Pablo Bay and Carquinez Strait, California. Gravity cores from San Pablo Bay contain bioturbated laminated silts and sandy clays, whole and broken bivalve shells (mostly mussels), fossil tube structures, and fine plant or...

Current as of April 4, 2013:This geodatabase contains all freely available spatial information on surface wellsites related to energy resources in the Crown of the Continent area. Due to the free nature of the data, it is of mixed quality and should not be considered inclusive of all wellsites actually in the region. Some wells may possess a “Cancelled” status and lack a drilled hole but may still represent a clearing made for the once planned activity.Alberta Source: current as of September 2009; Montana Source: 1998-2000 (Ground water wells: 2009); and British Columbia Source: 2007-2008.

Landforms along the Pacific, Gulf of Mexico, and Atlantic coastlines for the conterminous United States are attributed with the relative vulnerability of horizontal erosion due to sea-level rise to characterize coastal zone stability. The position and extent of landforms are geospatially indexed as line-events where these coastal zone features are intersected by the linear-referenced 2013 - 2014 U.S. Geological Survey National Hydrography Dataset Coastline, which corresponds to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) 2013 - 2014 mean high water level datum delineated in intertidal zones open to oceans, behind barrier coasts in bays, lagoons, and estuaries, and sometimes where tidal currents reach...

Airborne electromagnetic (AEM) and magnetic survey data were collected during July and August 2022 over a distance of 3,588.5 line kilometers covering Delaware Bay and surrounding regipons in New Jersey and Delaware. Data were collected as part of the USGS Delaware River Basin Next Generation Water Observing Systems (NGWOS) project to improve understanding of groundwater salinity distributions near Delaware Bay. The survey was primarily funded by the USGS, with partial support through collaboration with the University of Delaware to extend data collection to parts of Rehoboth Bay and Indian River Bay. Data were acquired by SkyTEM Canada Inc. with the SkyTEM 304M time-domain helicopter-borne electromagnetic system...

This data release includes the airborne magnetic survey data collected from the Iron Mountain-Menominee region of Michigan and Wisconsin. The Mineral Resources Program of the U.S. Geological Survey is tasked with understanding the nation's mineral resources. Precambrian rocks in the region are poorly mapped and understood. Detailed high-resolution airborne magnetic surveys, ground gravity surveys, and limited borehole data are being used to better understand the lithology and structure of both exposed and concealed Precambrian rocks. The primary goal of the airborne magnetic survey is to map lateral variations of magnetization that are related to differences in rock type.

This data release includes chirp seismic-reflection data collected in 2014 aboard the USGS R/V Snavely in San Pablo Bay, part of northern San Francisco Bay. These data were acquired to image the shallow geologic structure, particularly that related to the Hayward and Rodgers Creek Faults. Approximately 200 km of marine seismic-reflection data were collected along primarily northeast and northwest-trending profiles spaced 1-km apart using an Edgetech 512 chirp sub-bottom profiler that was towed alongside the vessel on a sled at the sea surface. Data were acquired using a 2-12 kHz sweep with a 20 ms length fired 6 times per second. Initial processing included subsampling at twice the sample interval to make swell...

Coastal wetland ecosystems are expected to migrate landward in response to accelerated sea-level rise. However, due to differences in topography and coastal urbanization extent, estuaries vary in their ability to accommodate wetland migration. The landward movement of wetlands requires suitable conditions, such as a gradual slope and land free of urban development. Urban barriers can constrain migration and result in wetland loss (coastal squeeze). For future-focused conservation planning purposes, there is a pressing need to quantify and compare the potential for wetland landward movement and coastal squeeze. For 41 estuaries in the northern Gulf of Mexico (i.e., the USA gulf coast), we quantified and compared...

These data represent the extent and spatial distribution of irrigated acreage delineated from maximum Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) derived from Landsat scenes in the Walker River Basin, California and Nevada, at five-year intervals from 1975-2010. The field boundaries in this data set are digitized from one-year composite maximum NDVI data derived from atmospherically corrected Landsat 2 Multispectral Scanner (MSS), Landsat 5 MSS, and Landsat 5 Thematic Mapper (TM) scenes. NDVI was calculated from the corrected reflectance data for each selected scene during the growing season (May through early October) and a single, composite image of maximum NDVI values was derived for each 5-year interval. Selecting...

Habitat condition, both acres flooded and timing of inundation, were determined using remote sensing images from Landsat 5 and 8 for the Lower Klamath Basin, the representative basin for the southern Oregon and northeast California (SONEC) region. The dataset includes proportional water coverage (acres) for 8,825 distinct patches in Lower Klamath over 6 different time periods (1984-89; 1990-94; 1995-99; 2000-04; 2005-09; 2010-16), with a total of 368,301 acres of possibly foreageable land.

Underwater video imagery was collected in March 2014 in the nearshore waters of Faga'alu Bay on the Island of Tutuila, American Samoa, as part of the U.S. Geological Survey Coastal and Marine Geology Program's Pacific Coral Reefs Project. Included here are 40 video files in .mpg format and an Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) shapefile with location (navigation) points every two seconds.
