The Assessment Unit is the fundamental unit used in the National Assessment Project for the assessment of undiscovered oil and gas resources. The Assessment Unit is defined within the context of the higher-level Total Petroleum System. The Assessment Unit is shown herein as a geographic boundary interpreted, defined, and mapped by the geologist responsible for the province and incorporates a set of known or postulated oil and (or) gas accumulations sharing similar geologic, geographic, and temporal properties within the Total Petroleum System, such as source rock, timing, migration pathways, trapping mechanism, and hydrocarbon type. The Assessment Unit boundary is defined geologically as the limits of the geologic...

This part of DS 781 presents data for the folds for the geologic and geomorphic map of the Offshore of Scott Creek map area, California. The vector data file is included in "Folds_OffshoreScottCreek.zip," which is accessible from https://doi.org/10.5066/F7CJ8BJW. These data accompany the pamphlet and map sheets of Cochrane, G.R., Dartnell, P., Johnson, S.Y., Greene, H.G., Erdey, M.D., Dieter, B.E., Golden, N.E., Endris, C.A., Hartwell, S.R., Kvitek, R.G., Davenport, C.W., Watt, J.T., Krigsman, L.M., Ritchie, A.C., Sliter, R.W., Finlayson, D.P., and Maier, K.L. Stream and Air data loggers were deployed in June of 2020 and downloaded in October 2020. The HJ_Andrews_Temperature file contains temperature data (in C°) by logger serial number, site, and usage for the study period. The HJ_Andrews_Pressure file contains pressure data (in kPa) by logger serial number, site, and usage for the study period. The HJ_Andrews_Points spatial data layer contains site locations, geographic information, data summaries, and mean August stream temperatures. The HJ_Andrews_Wet_Dry delineation file contains daily flow status estimates derived from stream and air temperature...

This inventory was originally created by Basharat and others (2014) describing the landslides triggered by the M 7.6 Kashmir, Pakistan earthquake that occurred on 8 October 2005 at 03:50:40 UTC. Care should be taken when comparing with other inventories because different authors use different mapping techniques. This inventory also could be associated with other earthquakes such as aftershocks or triggered events. Please check the author methods summary and the original data source for more information on these details and to confirm the viability of this inventory for your specific use. With the exception of the data from USGS sources, the inventory data and associated metadata were not acquired by the U.S. Geological...

This inventory describes the landslides triggered by the M6.5 Friuli, Italy earthquake that occurred on 1976-05-06 at 20:00:11 UTC. The inventory comes from the Italian Catalogue of Earthquake-Induced Ground Effects (Italian acronym CEDIT) by Martino and others (2014), which contains inventories from multiple earthquakes. To obtain the most up to date version of the entire, original catalog along with more details about its compilation, please visit the CEDIT webpage on the website of the Centre for Research (CERI) of the Department of Earth Sciences in the Sapienza University of Rome: http://www.ceri.uniroma1.it/index.php/web-gis/cedit/. This inventory was originally created by Harp and others (1984) describing the landslides triggered by a sequence of earthquakes, with the largest being the M 6.5 Mammoth Lakes, California earthquake that occurred on 25 May 1980 at 19:44:50 UTC. Care should be taken when comparing with other inventories because different authors use different mapping techniques. In 2009, the Kootenai Tribe of Idaho released and implemented the Kootenai River Habitat Restoration Master Plan. This plan aimed to restore, enhance, and maintain the Kootenai River habitat and landscape to support and sustain habitat conditions for aquatic species and animal populations. In support of these restoration efforts, the U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the Kootenai Tribe of Idaho, conducted high-resolution multibeam echosounder bathymetric surveys as a baseline bathymetric monitoring survey on the Kootenai River near Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Three channel patterns or reaches exist in the study area: braided, meander, and a transitional zone connecting the braided and meander reaches. Bathymetric...

The USGS Central Region Energy Team assesses oil and gas resources of the United States. The onshore and State water areas of the United States comprise 71 provinces. Within these provinces, Total Petroleum Systems are defined and Assessment Units are defined and assessed. Each of these provinces is defined geologically, and most province boundaries are defined by major geologic changes. The Uinta-Piceance Province is located in eastern Utah and western Colorado, encompassing all or parts of Delta, Garfield, Gunnison, Mesa, Moffat, Montrose, Ouray, Rio Blanco, and Routt Counties in Colorado and all or parts of Carbon, Duchesne, Emery, Grand, Sanpete, Sevier, Uintah, Utah, and Wasatch Counties in Utah. The main population...

This dataset is a point coverage of attributes on data location, thickness of the Fire Clay coal zone, and its elevation, in feet. This resource model for the Fire Clay coal zone must be considered provisional, because the correlation of the zone continues to be evaluated in West Virginia. The file is also found as an ASCII Appendix of Chapter F, Disc 1 found elsewhere in Professional Paper 1625-C.

Locations and shapes of salt diapirs were modified after the New Orleans Geological Society map, Salt tectonism of the U.S. Gulf Coast Basin (compiled by J.A. Lopez, 1995); Plate 2, Principal structural features, Gulf of Mexico Basin (compiled by T.E. Ewing and R.F. Lopez) in Volume J, The Geology of North America (1991); and U.S. Geological Survey Miscellaneous Field Studies Map MF-1213, Distribution of salt structures, Gulf of Mexico, by R.G. Martin (1980). This dataset contains basic data and interpretations developed and compiled by the U.S. Geological Survey's Framework Studies and Assessment of the Gulf Coast Project. Other major sources of data include publicly available information from state agencies as...

This dataset is a polygon coverage of counties limited to the extent of the Pittsburgh coal bed resource areas and attributed with remaining resource values in aggregated reporting categories as described in USGS Circular 891. The file has been generalized from detailed geologic coverages found elsewhere in Professional Paper 1625-C.

This coverage includes arcs, polygons and polygon labels that describe U.S. Geological Survey defined geologic provinces of the Australia and New Zealand area (Australia, Fiji, New Zealand, Tonga and Vanuatu; and parts of Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands). Each province has a set of geologic characteristics distinguishing it from surrounding provinces. These characteristics may include the dominant lithologies, the age of the strata, and the structural style. Some provinces include multiple genetically-related basins. Offshore province boundaries are defined by the 2000 meter bathymetric contour.
The digitally compiled map includes geology, oil and gas field centerpoints, and geologic provinces of the Arctic (North Pole area encircled by 640 N Latitude). The GIS data sets were designed originally in ESRI's ARC/INFO ver. 8.0.1 and were published as part of a series of interim CD-ROM products of the U.S. Geological Survey's World Energy Project (WEP). The goal of the WEP is to assess the undiscovered, technically recoverable oil and gas resources of the world. Results of this assessment were reported in the year 2000 (see USGS DDS-60; http://pubs.usgs.gov/dds/dds-060/).
