In October 2016, we acquired an approximately 15-km-long seismic profile along a linear transect across the East Bay region of the San Francisco Bay area. Our goal was to image previously unknown strands of the Hayward Fault zone and to better delineate the structure and geometry of the main trace of the Hayward Fault. Our profile started near the southern border of San Leandro, California at the San Francisco Bay shoreline, trended ENE through the northern edge of Castro Valley, California, and ended approximately 5 km WSW of San Ramon, California. We present whole-rock geochemical analyses of 12 core samples obtained from three serpentinite mud volcanoes (Yinazao, Asut Tesoru, and Fantangisna) located on the forearc of the Mariana subduction system, where the Pacific Plate descends beneath the Philippine Sea Plate. The core was collected during International Ocean Discovery Program Expedition 366 of 2016-2017. The materials comprising the mud volcanoes have risen diapirically along normal faults in the forearc that may extend down to the subducting slab. These data are a geospatial representation of potential moderate or high ground shaking intensity for seven M5 or greater aftershocks resulting from the HayWired earthquake scenario, a magnitude 7.0 earthquake occurring on the Hayward Fault on April 18, 2018, with an epicenter in the city of Oakland, CA. The dataset is consisted of travel-time records (SWM_DATA.zip) in SEG2 format recorded using multi-station MASW and AM arrays near 10 seismographic stations located in California. A table in the spreadsheet (SWM_deployment_record.xlsx) summarizes the data collection, with multiple sheets providing further details about array configurations at each station. Stations included in the dataset are CE.25091, CE.25392, CI.MAG, CI.NEE2, CI.SNR, GF.99, NC.JECB, NC.JPSB, NP.1797, and JP.1865.
Between October 12, 2019 and December 13, 2019, the U.S. Geological Survey deployed 30 nodal seismometers in Humboldt county CA for the purpose of recording seismicity in the subducting Gorda plate. 20 instruments were deployed at the McBride ranch, around NCSN station KCT, and 10 were deployed at the Bureau of Land Management’s Lost Coast Headlands property. The nodes were replaced in mid-November after one month of recording due to battery life.

This data release comprises three separate datasets and their accompanying metadata, in zip files. The data were acquired as part of a laboratory study of the response of ultramafic materials to shear at hydrothermal conditions. The principal dataset consists of the strength-displacement data from 28 friction experiments acquired on gouges prepared from peridotite rock samples and from separates of its principal mineral constituents olivine and orthopyroxene. The other two datasets present mineralogical data for the run products obtained by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and energy dispersive system (EDS) techniques.

These lidar data are derived from two airborne lidar surveys: a 2016 Los Angeles Region Imagery Acquisition Consortium (LARIAC) survey, and a 2019 National Center for Airborne Laser Mapping (NCALM) survey. These data were reclassified in order to improve the classification of ground points, and to make the classification of both datasets as consistent as possible. The NCALM data had their position shifted slightly to more closely align with the LARIAC data. The GeoTiff raster data were created from subtraction of elevation values collected in 2012 from elevation values collected in 2011. Both data collections were conducted by airborne lidar surveys contracted by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. These survey occured before and after a historical rain event that cause widespread landscape change. The shapefiles are polygon objects that illustrate where erosion and deposition occurred on slopes and in valleys in the June 2012 rain event in the Duluth, MN region

These data are an expanded geospatial representation of liquefaction probability for the HayWired earthquake scenario, a magnitude 7.0 earthquake occurring on the Hayward Fault on April 18, 2018, with an epicenter in the city of Oakland, CA. These data supplement the liquefaction probability analysis completed by Jones and others (2017) for the earthquake hazards volume of the HayWired earthquake scenario, which was the product of an analysis that created a detailed liquefaction probability map covering the northern Santa Clara County and western Alameda County areas. Text files: These data are text files of GNSS survey points collected along a trace of the West Napa Fault Zone near Ehlers Lane north of St. Helena, California. Data were collected to aid in paleoseismic investigation of the suspected fault strand and to characterize local geomorphology. Data were collected on March 31, and August 1, 2017 using a Leica Viva GS15 survey-grade GNSS receiver. The data are delivered as positions in the NAD83 UTM zone 10N coordinate system with orthometric heights according to Geoid 12B. This dataset consists of tabular information from coastal studies of earthquake and tsunami history along a central part of the Cascadia Subduction Zone. The study area encompasses four estuaries along the Pacific coast of southern Washington and northernmost Oregon. Nearly all the field work took place between 1986 and 1998. Data tables, 18 in all, archive mostly georeferenced information about stratigraphy, radiocarbon ages, and trees dead and living. Some of this data was interpreted in reports published between 1987 and 2005, but most of it was previously unavailable. This report summarizes geomorphic data and analysis from the range front of the San Gabriel Mountains, California, USA. For catchment-average erosion rates, we describe the methodology used to collect samples of detrital sediment, determine concentrations of cosmogenic beryllium-10 in purified quartz isolated from the samples, and use those nuclide concentrations to calculate erosion rates. We also describe the methodology for calculating various topographic metrics from previously published lidar topographic data.
