The U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, the Tug Hill Commission, the Jefferson County Soil and Water Conservation District, the Oswego County Soil and Water Conservation District, and the Tug Hill Land Trust studied the northern and central parts of the Tug Hill glacial aquifer to help communities make sound decisions about the groundwater resource. This child item dataset contains locations of water level contours for the northern and central parts of the Tug Hill aquifer.

A three-dimensional hydrogeologic framework model (3D HFM) of the westernmost western Snake River Plain (WSRP) aquifer system was prepared to represent the subsurface distribution and thickness of four hydrogeologic units. The primary source of data for the 3D HFM was lithologic data from a total of 291 well-driller reports. These data were then processed using Rockware Rockworks17 three-dimensional modeling software. This dataset consists of five comma-delineated CSV files containing well information: location, lithology, well construction, aquifer, and comments. It is one of three related datasets.

This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) data release contains daily-mean streamflow and estimated-daily base flow for 225 streamgages in the Chesapeake Bay watershed ranging from 1913 to 2016 (beginning and end dates may vary). There is a table containing hydrograph-separation results by six methods for 225 sites (Hydrograph_separation_results_for_225_streams_in_the_Chesapeake_Bay_watershed) and a summary table with hydrograph-separation results for each site and method (Hydrograph_separation_summary_for_225_streams_in_the_Chesapeake_Bay_watershed). Quantitative estimates of base flow are necessary to address questions of the vulnerability and response of aquatic ecosystems to natural and human-induced change in environmental...

This data release contains input data used in model development and TIF raster files used to predict the probability of high arsenic (As) and high manganese (Mn) in groundwater within the glacial aquifer system in the northern United States. Input data include measured As and Mn concentrations at groundwater wells, and associated predictor variable data. The probability of high As and high Mn was predicted using boosted regression tree methods using the gbm package in R version 4.0.0. The response variables for individual models were the occurrence of: (1) As >10 µg/L, and (2) Mn >300 µg/L. Water-quality data were compiled from three sources, as described in Wilson and others (2019): a compilation of data from numerous...

This shapefile represents the spatial distribution of mean annual water-budget components, in inches, for the Island of Maui, Hawaii for a projected climate condition representative of phase 3 of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP3) A1B 2080-99 scenario climate and 2017 land cover, as described in USGS SIR 2019-5064. The water-budget components for each model subarea were computed for the future climate condition using a water-budget model developed by Johnson and others (2018). The 2017 land-cover map developed by Mair (2018) was used to define the land-cover conditions and the model subareas. The shapefile attribute information associated with each subarea (or polygon) present an estimate of mean...

These shapefiles represent the spatial distribution of mean annual water-budget components, in inches, for the Island of Maui, Hawaii for a set of eight future climate and land-cover scenarios. The future climate conditions used in the water-budget analyses were derived from two end-of-century downscaled climate projections including (1) a projected future climate condition representative of phase 3 of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP3) A1B 2080-99 scenario climate described in Zhang and others (2016a, 2016b) and (2) a projected future climate condition representative of phase 5 of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP5) Representative Concentration Pathway 8.5 (RCP8.5) 2080-99 scenario...

In 2011, the U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the Town of Newfield and the Tompkins County Planning Department, began a study of the stratified-drift aquifers in the West Branch Cayuga Inlet and Fish Kill valleys in the Town of Newfield, Tompkins County, New York. The objective of this study was to characterize the hydrogeology and water quality of the stratified-drift aquifers in the West Branch Cayuga Inlet and Fish Kill valleys and produce a summary report of the findings. This dataset contains locations of unconfined aquifer boundaries in West Branch Cayuga Inlet and Fish Kill Valleys, Newfield, Tompkins County, New York.

This folder contains the raw and processed TEM data and inverted soundings showing resistivity (in ohm-m) with depth for all survey sites that were part of transect 1. In October and November 2016-2017, transient electromagnetic (TEM) data, also called time domain electromagnetic (TDEM) surveys, were acquired at 120 locations in the Genesee Valley, Livingston County, in New York, in order to characterize the subsurface resistivity structure in support of a U.S. Geological Survey groundwater investigation. The TEM data were collected as part of a project to evaluate geophysical methods to characterize the valley-fill sediments, underlying bedrock, and salinity of the subsurface. TEM data were collected using an ABEM...

A digital representation of closed depression features overlying and adjacent to New York’s carbonate-bedrock aquifers. Includes closed depressions that are both natural and anthropogenic in origin. The features were derived from a digital contour database obtained from https://topotools.cr.usgs.gov/contour_data.php. The original contour dataset was generated from the National Elevation Dataset (NED) and the National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) in a fully automated process. The process is described in U.S. Geological Survey Scientific Investigations Report 2012–5167.

TEM data were collected using an ABEM WalkTEM unit (acquisition software V 1.1.0 and newer) using two transmitter loop (Tx) sizes, 100 by 100 meter square and 40 by 40 meters square, a center-loop receiver...

This child item contains ground penetrating radar (GPR) data collected over a small alpine wetland between Mogul Mine and Cement Creek located near Silverton, Colorado. Mine-impacted water is transported to Cement Creek via surface channels and groundwater through this wetland. The GPR method transmits radar pulses into the ground and measures the returned amplitude from these pulses over time. Variations in subsurface electromagnetic (EM) properties (dielectric permittivity, electrical conductivity, and magnetic susceptibility) affect the timing and amplitude of returned radar energy. For example, variation in water or mineral content are physical properties that often influence the EM properties that are observed...

This child item contains frequency domain electromagnetic induction (FDEM) data collected along and around Cement Creek and California Gulch near Silverton, Colorado in support of other data collected at the site. The FDEM tool generates an EM field and measures eddy currents generated by conductive and/or magnetic materials in the subsurface in response to the applied field. A Geophex GEM-2 instrument with GPS was used with 5 frequencies ranging from 450 Hz to 18330 Hz. Additional details are contained in the ‘readme.txt’ files within each zip data directory.

This child item dataset contains a single horizontal-to-vertical spectral ratio (HVSR) measurement from Delaware County, New York, DHVSR8. Raw and processed HVSR data for this HVSR measurement are included in a zipped directory named by the measurement site identifier. The HVSR data-collection sites are designated by a county sequential numbering system (DHVSR8, etc. where "D" indicates Delaware County).
