This model archive contains the input data, model code, and model outputs for machine learning models that predict daily non-tidal stream salinity (specific conductance) for a network of 459 modeled stream segements across the Delaware River Basin (DRB). Results are provided for two time periods: the historical drought-of-record from 1965-10-02 to 1969-12-30, and that same drought evaluated in climatic conditions that are consistent with a LENS2 enseble climate projection from 2057-10-02 to 2061-12-30. Results are provided for a total of three Random Forest models, corresponding to three input attribute sets (dynamic attributes, dynamic and static attributes, and dynamic attributes and a minimum set of static attributes)....

The USGS’s FORE-SCE model was used to produce land-use and land-cover (LULC) projections for the conterminous United States. The projections were originally created as part of the "LandCarbon" project, an effort to understand biological carbon sequestration potential in the United States. However, the projections are being used for a wide variety of purposes, including analyses of the effects of landscape change on biodiversity, water quality, and regional weather and climate. The year 1992 served as the baseline for the landscape modeling. The 1992 to 2005 period was considered the historical baseline, with datasets such as the National Land Cover Database (NLCD), USGS Land Cover Trends, and US Department of Agriculture's...

This data release provides geochemical, sedimentological, and geochronological data from interbedded fluvial and marsh deposits and radiocarbon dates of the section spanning the last 1500 years from the Pallett Creek paleoseismic site, California. The samples were collected to support paleoenvironmental reconstruction of the site and refine several previous investigations of paleoearthquakes along the San Andreas Fault (Sieh, 1978; Sieh, 1984; Sieh et al., 1989; Biasi and Weldon, 1994; Scharer et al., 2011). Geochemical and sedimentological data include grain size, magnetic susceptibility, dry bulk density, percent total organic matter, and percent total carbonate at contiguous 1 cm spacing and carbon (total C)...

USGS Geochron is a database of geochronological and thermochronological dates and data. The data set contains published ages, dates, analytical information, sample metadata including location, and source citations. The following analytical techniques are represented in the data set: 40Ar/39Ar, K-Ar, U-Th-Pb, Sm-Nd, Rb-Sr, Lu-Hf, fission track, luminescence, U-series, (U-Th)/He, Re-Os, 10Be and 26Al cosmogenic, and radiocarbon. This data set incorporates data previously hosted in the National Geochronological Database (Sloan and others, 2003), as well as data from published journal articles and ScienceBase data releases. These data are primarily from the United States, but data from other parts of the world are also...

The Louisiana State Legislature created the Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act (CWPPRA) in order to conserve, restore, create and enhance Louisiana's coastal wetlands. The wetland restoration plans developed pursuant to these acts specifically require an evaluation of the effectiveness of each coastal wetlands restoration project in achieving long-term solutions to arresting coastal wetlands loss. This data set includes mosaicked aerial photographs for the East Marsh Island Marsh Creation (TV-21) project for 2021. This data is used as a basemap land-water classification. It also serves as a visual tool for project managers to help them identify any obvious problems or land loss within their...

One of the most visible signs of climate change is less mountain snow. In the Western U.S., deep snow has historically been a cornerstone of life for many plants and animals. For example, snow can provide denning shelter for certain species like the wolverine, and snowmelt provides dependable water to mountain streams that are home to fish like the bull trout. Yet snow losses driven by warming temperatures are already causing land and water managers to rethink whether certain species can thrive in the future. A recently completed study by this research team helped the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service investigate whether wolverines will have enough snow to survive in two areas of the Rocky Mountains. In June 2020,...

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Inland Bathymetric and Topobathymetric Survey Inventory, v. 3 includes a survey records inventory and dataset footprints (when available) for inland bathymetric and topobathymetric surveys published by the USGS for the conterminous US and Puerto Rico. Survey records include water feature, state, publication title, data vintage, mission, online linkage to reports and datasets, collection methods, survey and survey product resolution, datums, geoid, and accuracy information if known. This database, identified as the USGS Inland Bathymetric and Topobathymetric Survey Inventory, v.3, has been approved for release by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Although this database has been...
The USGS’s FORE-SCE model was used to produce a long-term landscape dataset for the Delaware River Basin (DRB). Using historical landscape reconstruction and scenario-based future projections, the data provided land-use and land-cover (LULC) data for the DRB from year 1680 through 2100, with future projections from 2020-2100 modeled for 7 different socioeconomic-based scenarios, and 3 climate realizations for each socioeconomic scenario (21 scenario combinations in total). The projections are characterized by 1) high spatial resolution (30-meter cells), 2) high thematic resolution (20 land use and land cover classes), 3) broad spatial extent (covering the entirety of the Delaware River basin, corresponding to USGS...

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the York County Planning Commission and York County Conservation District, has collected discrete stream samples for analysis of suspended-sediment, total nitrogen, and total phosphorus concentrations at six real-time streamflow and water-quality monitoring (turbidity, nitrate, and specific conductance) stations located in York County, Pennsylvania. Data were collected from 2019-2023 at these stations for the application of predicting suspended-sediment, total nitrogen, and total phosphorus concentrations using real-time continuous turbidity, nitrate, specific conductance, and streamflow. Regression equations were developed by relating discrete-sample suspended...
