The dataset includes a table in comma delimited format of daily evapotranspiration (ET) from 6/14/2018 to 12/31/2020 from an ET station within the Blue Cypress Marsh Conservation Area, within Indian River County, Florida. Evapotranspiration was estimated using eddy-covariance methods and missing records were gap-filled with a version of the Turc equation (Trajkovic and Kolakovic, 2009) that was regressed against observed values of eddy-covariance ET. The Turc equation performed exceptionally well (r-squared value of 0.94) for reproducing observed daily ET rates. Daily ET values estimated with the Turc equation are identified by a column with a "T" value indicator. Data processing methods were similar to methods...

This data release provides data for quantifying the aquatic export of total carbon in a cypress swamp within the Big Cypress National Preserve, and is part of a larger carbon budget study. The U.S. Geological Survey operated two continuous streamflow and water-quality monitoring stations within the Big Cypress National Preserve in southern Florida from September 2015 to October 2017. Site-specific regression models were developed using continuously measured specific conductance and concomitant discretely collected total carbon (dissolved organic carbon, dissolved inorganic carbon, and particulate carbon) samples to calculate continuous concentrations of total carbon. Total carbon loads were calculated by multiplying...

The primary goal of the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan is to restore natural water flow through the Everglades. An approach known as decompartmentalization, which involves the removal of levees, canals, and other barriers to flow, has been suggested to aid in the restoration. In the region known as Water Conservation Area 3 (WCA-3), the L-67A and L-67C canals and levees, which bisect WCA-3 into WCA-3A to the north and WCA-3B to the south, are major barriers to natural flow. A test project for the decompartmentalization of WCA-3 has been initiated through the WCA-3 Decompartmentalization and Sheetflow Enhancement Physical Model (DPM). This flow-release test involves reconnecting WCA-3A and WCA-3B through...

The dataset includes a table in comma delimited format of daily evapotranspiration (ET) from 6/15/2017 to 1/21/2020 from an ET station in wetlands along the western perimeter of Lake Okeechobee, near Clewiston, Florida. The dominant plant cover at the study site is sawgrass (Cladium jamaicense) with secondary amounts of cattails and open water surfaces such as canals for boat navigation. Sawgrass and cattail height generally varies from less than 1 to 2.4 meters. The depth of water in the wetland averages less than 1 meter above land surface but exceeds 1.5 meters when water levels are high in Lake Okeechobee. In contrast, water levels were less than 1 meter below land surface in the wetland from May to June of...
The U.S. Geological Survey has compiled information on water withdrawal and use for Puerto Rico at 5-year intervals since 1980 to provide data for the management of the Commonwealth’s water resources. For 2015, water withdrawals and use were estimated for 78 municipalities from fresh groundwater and surface water in the categories of public use, domestic use, irrigation use, livestock, commercial use, industrial use, and mining use and both fresh groundwater and surface water and saline surface-water for thermoelectric power. Fourteen tables and one shapefile were compiled to provide water withdrawals by municipalities and other water use information.

Daily measurements of evaporation using the Bowen ratio method were made at USGS station name LZ40 (USGS site number 265405080472100), a platform-based station constructed by the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) at the approximate center of Lake Okeechobee, Florida. Meteorological and environmental variables were measured every 30 seconds and averaged at 15-minute resolution, including: water temperature (surface and profile), air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, and incoming/outgoing short and longwave radiation.

This dataset consists of methane flux data collected with eddy covariance methods; and methane ebullition data collected with gas traps, time-lapse cameras, and capacitance probe measurements. Inferred bubble production and soil volumetric gas content data from capacitance probe measurements also are included. These data were collected from July to November 2016 at two forested wetlands in Big Cypress National Preserve, Florida. Gas trap, time-lapse camera, and capacitance probe data were collected at platforms located within the source area of each eddy covariance tower in forested wetlands. Each platform consisted of an array of gas traps, one time-lapse camera, and one capacitance probe. The location (geographic...
