The data herein are geochemical (from X-Ray fluorescence spectrometry), grain size (percent clay, silt, sand), lithological (loss on ignition data), bathymetric, reconstructed IVT, and radioactive isotopes (14-C, 210-Pb, 226-Ra, and 137-Cs). These data were collected from sediments from Leonard Lake, Mendocino County, California, USA starting in 2014. Together, these data provide evidence for a record of extreme precipitation going back three millennia, showing regional pluvial and drought cycles.

This data was collected by the US Fish and Wildlife Service to see if environmental DNA (eDNA) varied across pools and within pools in the Illinois River basin. The data was collected in 2015 from three different habitat types: shoreline, main channel, and bays. The resulting data were then analyzed using an occupancy model.

American pikas (Ochotona princeps) are small lagomorphs that live in mountainous talus areas of western North America. Studies on the histopathology of American pikas are limited. This report summarizes the clinical histories, and gross and histologic findings of 12 American pikas, including nine captive and three wild animals. Death was often attributed to stress (transport, handling, and anesthesia) with few to no premonitory clinical signs. Two cases died due to infection: one had bacterial pyogranulomatous dermatitis, cellulitis, and lymphadenitis with sepsis; the other case had fungal necrotizing colitis. Incidental parasite infections included sarcocystosis, nematodiasis (oxyurids), and ectoparasitism. Most...

Since 2005, the U.S. Geological Survey - Great Lakes Science Center's Lake Erie Biological Station (LEBS) has participated in a collaborative, multiagency effort to assess pelagic prey fish populations in the western (WB), central (CB), and eastern (EB) basins of Lake Erie through a combination of hydroacoustic and midwater trawl sampling. Assessing lake-wide distribution and abundance of pelagic prey species over time facilitates evaluation of large-scale drivers of fish production while also considering food-web dynamics at a smaller sub-basin scale. Information from this survey will support decision making within an ecosystem-based fishery management framework. In support of binational Great Lakes fishery management,...

Mid-sized mammals (i.e., mesomammals) fulfill important ecological roles, serving as essential scavengers, predators, pollinators, and seed dispersers in the ecosystems they inhabit. Consequently, declines in mesomammal populations have the potential to disrupt ecological processes and degrade ecosystems. However, ecosystems characterized by high functional redundancy, where multiple species can fulfill similar ecological roles, may be less impacted by the loss of mesomammals and other vertebrates. The Greater Everglades Ecosystem in southern Florida is a historically biodiverse region that has recently been impacted by multiple anthropogenic threats, most notably the introduction of the Burmese python (Python bivittatus)....

Risk assessments describe the risk of a species’ invasion in a location, and many risk assessments have been produced by different institutions for various reasons. However, information is sporadically located online, increasing the difficulty of developing comprehensive lists of species with risk assessments or comparing assessment results across species in locations of interest. Therefore, we aggregated species risk assessments by searching information systems and conducting a literature review. The methods for data aggregation are explained in the larger work citation (Dean et al. 2024). The present dataset documents risk assessments available at different spatial scales (e.g., territory, state, region, nation)...

The Louisiana State Legislature created the Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act (CWPPRA) in order to conserve, restore, create and enhance Louisiana's coastal wetlands. The wetland restoration plans developed pursuant to these acts specifically require an evaluation of the effectiveness of each coastal wetlands restoration project in achieving long-term solutions to arresting coastal wetlands loss. This data set includes mosaicked aerial photographs for the East Marsh Island Marsh Creation (TV-21) project for 2021. This data is used as a basemap land-water classification. It also serves as a visual tool for project managers to help them identify any obvious problems or land loss within their...

The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources and Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency conducted observations onboard commercial fishing vessels. During these observations total lengths were collected from a subset of that capture which we have used to develop a length-based stock assessment of invasive carp. The first dataset represent harvest from the invasive carp harvest program in Kentucky and Tennessee from 2009-2021 only in Lake Barkley and Kentucky Lake where the majority of harvest occurs. The second data are length data from a subset of those fish harvested in 2018-2021. The last dataset are the results from a survey delivered to fishers participating in the invasive carp harvest program in Kentucky...

Twenty-three long-term mangrove vegetation plots were established between 1992-1997 within the southwest coastal region of Everglades National Park (Florida, USA) to quantify tree damage and recovery following hurricanes and to understand the effects of global climate change. Many of the mangrove vegetation plots were associated with hydrology, soil porewater, and soil surface elevation monitoring stations. Within each plot, trees were tagged, mapped, and identified to species. The diameter at breast height (DBH) and status of each tree were measured at one to two year intervals through 2011. This dataset includes 51,730 tree measurements.

Data files contain the simulated mean daily environmental conditions experienced by particles (which can be assumed to be planktonic larval alewife or yellow perch) in Lake Michigan during March 15 - July 31 of past and future years. Simulations were generated by integrating a series of climatic, hydrodynamic, biogeochemical, and Lagrangian particle dispersion (LPD) models. For each year, 42,765 particles (i.e., each representing a theoretical larval fish) were released from coastal and nearshore locations and tracked sub-hourly for 50-days following their release. Each year's dataset summarizes individual particle experiences (e.g., light, zooplankton prey, temperature) into daily averages.

These data contain ambrosia beetle (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) trapping data using two different repellents in two different trials at Waiākea Forest Reserve. Beetles were trapped using cross vane panel traps equipped with 50:50 Ethanol:Methanol lures in the first trial and with black panel multi-traps equipped with 100% Ethanol lures in the second trial. Both trials tested the ability of two different beetle repellents, one verbenone formulation, and one verbnone + methyl salicylate, to deter beetle catch.

This data was used for the analysis in the paper "Assessing factors related to Walleye stocking success in the midwestern United States". This data includes stocking records of walleye from the Midwestern United States and subsequent evaluations of these stockings as provided by state agencies. Additionally, attributes of lakes such as size (depth, area), trophic state, and temperature are included to evaluate factors that relate to walleye stocking success. A second copy of the data is included that relies on imputation to fill in data gaps. Methodological processes are outlined in the associated paper.
