The spread of white-nose syndrome (WNS) across the eastern United States has raised conservation concerns and provided motivation for efforts to monitor the impacts of this disease. Currently, WNS has not yet been detected in Montana, or any other western state besides Washington, and it is unknown how severe it will impact species in this region once it arrives. Within an occupancy model framework, we analyzed mist netting and acoustic records for eight bat species in Montana to estimate baseline distributions across the state prior to the arrival of WNS. Most of these data were collected in order to create a database of tree locations for use in calibrating remote sensing tools and products, particularly dead tree detection tools and canopy species maps. Data include tree locations, species identification, and status (live, dead, and, if dead, sometimes includes information on foliage and twig retention). They are a collection of different sampling efforts performed over several years, starting in a period of severe drought mortality. This metadata record represents passive immunity components of six songbird species (Passeriformes) in a single taxonomic family, the New World blackbirds (Icteridae). Six immune elements were compared among blackbird eggs collected in North Dakota, South Dakota, and Puerto Rico, including immunoglobulins (Ig) in both yolk and albumen, lipopolysaccharide-specific immunoglobulins in both yolk and albumen, and ovotransferrin and lysozyme in albumen. Dr. Richard Janda of the USGS began a channel monitoring program in Redwood Creek in northern coastal California in 1973. The USGS continued this work through 2013, when the Research Geologist, Dr. Mary Madej retired. This effort produced 40 years of channel change data in rivers that were disrupted by severe erosion following timber harvest of old-growth redwood forests, a portion of the program's data (plus 1953 data) has been preserved in this data release. We analyzed detection/non-detection data from acoustic surveys of bat species in Colorado during the summers of 2016 and 2017. The goal of this analysis is to create species distribution maps estimating the probability of occupancy across the state for each species. We fit a community occupancy model using both years of data from all the available species. Spatially explicit covariates were included to explain heterogeneity in the probabilities of occupancy and nightly covariates were used to model detection.
