This data release includes the data and code used for the paper titled "A framework to facilitate development and testing of image-based river velocimetry algorithms", published in the journal Earth Surface Processes and Landforms. Three *.csv files and five *.m files with MATLAB source code are included below. Each *.csv file contains output from a hydrodynamic model of a reach of the Sacramento River near Glenn, California, with a separate file for each of three different discharges (i.e., streamflow rates): 90, 191, and 255 cubic meters per second. The hydrodynamic model used for this purpose was the Nays2DH solver available within the International River Cooperative Interface (iRIC). Provided below is a link...

These data are high-resolution bathymetry (riverbed elevation) and depth-averaged velocities in comma-delimited table format, generated from hydrographic and velocimetric surveys near highway bridge structures over the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers on the periphery of Missouri, June 13–22, 2021. Hydrographic data were collected using a high-resolution multibeam echosounder mapping system (MBMS), which consists of a multibeam echosounder (MBES) and an inertial navigation system (INS) mounted on a marine survey vessel. Data were collected as the vessel traversed the river along planned survey lines distributed throughout the reach. Data collection software integrated and stored the depth data from the MBES and the...

Water-supply lakes are the primary source of water for many communities throughout Missouri. Therefore, accurate and up-to-date estimates of lake capacity are important for managing and predicting adequate water supply. Many of the water supply lakes in Missouri were previously surveyed by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in the early 2000s (Richards, 2013) and in 2013 (Huizinga, 2014); however, years of potential sedimentation may have resulted in reduced water storage capacity. Periodic bathymetric surveys are useful to update the area/capacity table and to determine changes in the bathymetric surface. Vandalia Reservoir is a water-supply lake used by the city of Vandalia in northeastern Missouri. The surface...

Groundwater samples collected from the Edwards aquifer in south-central Texas were analyzed for water-quality data to assess aquifer susceptibility to contaminants. Water-quality data included environmental tracers of groundwater age (tritium, tritiogenic helium-3, sulfur hexafluoride, carbon-14, and radiogenic helium-4), calibrated to lumped parameter models (LPMs). Groundwater samples were collected from monitoring wells, domestic-supply wells, and public-supply wells during 2017 and 2018. This data release includes seven tables detailing these data. The final estimates for mean groundwater ages determined for samples from 65 wells ranged from 4 years to 45,400 years, with a median of 25 years. Table 1 provides...

In 2011-12, the U.S. Geological Survey conducted a study of the and hydrogeomorphic history and hydrodynamic characteristics of the lower 5 kilometers of the Sheboygan River, a tributary to Lake Michigan in eastern Wisconsin. The hydrogeomorphic history and stability of an ecologically important island complex in the Sheboygan River, the Wildwood Islands, was studied to determine the potential effects of inundation of island surfaces on riparian vegetation and potential areas of erosion and deposition. A two-dimensional (2D) channel hydraulics model was developed for simulating the interaction of riverine flows with varying lake levels and seiche effects. This dataset contains model input and output associated with...

A three-dimensional, variable-density solute-transport model (SUTRA) was developed to evaluate the effects of three selected withdrawal/injection scenarios on salinity of groundwater (as simulated at damselfly anchialine-pool habitat) and discharge of freshwater to the nearshore environment of Kaloko-Honokōhau National Historical Park (KAHO), Hawaiʻi. A base model was constructed using water-level, salinity, and withdrawal data available during the period from 2009 to 2017. Groundwater recharge for the base model was from a published daily water budget representing rainfall for the period 1984-2008. The SUTRA code was modified to include simplified unsaturated zone properties in the subroutine UNSAT. Changes in...
