This data set consists of digital data describing wetlands and uplands habitats for the Mississippi Coastal Improvements Program (MsCIP) area, consisting of Cat, Ship, Horn and Petit Bois Islands for the year 2020. Wetlands were classified using the Cowardin, et al., wetlands classification scheme to the level of freshwater and tidal, salinity modifiers. Uplands were classified using a customized classification scheme which can be cross-referenced to Anderson, et. al. For this dataset, upland dunes were delineated as areas at or above 1.524 meters (5 feet) as determined in the Lidar data that was referenced without modification for this classification. With this elevation criteria some delineated upland dune features...

This bathymetric dataset provides an update to the stage-storage relation for Quail Lake (reservoir) located in the El Dorado National Forest, Calif. Bathymetric data was collected using a multibeam echo sounder to provide near-complete coverage and was merged with USGS 3DEP lidar to compute a DEM of the lake and near shore. The DEM was used to computed storage and surface area for a range of stage elevations. Results show that the spillway elevation was 6799.3 feet (NAVD88) and the crest elevation was 6802.5 feet (NAVD88). At the spillway elevation the storage was 141.74 ac-ft with a surface area of 14.20 ac. At the crest elevation the storage was 190.05 ac-ft with a surface area of 15.89 ac.

The U.S. Geological Survey collected groundwater samples from 17 wells in the Indio subbasin (CA basin designation 7-21.01) of the Coachella Valley and surface water samples from two sites representing sources of recharge to the Indio subbasin in 2021. These samples are intended to provide inorganic water quality data, particularly total dissolved solids (TDS), within areas of the Indio subbasin not sampled for the Groundwater Ambient Monitoring and Assessment (GAMA) Program Priority Basin Project’s assessment of the quality of groundwater used for domestic and small system drinking water supplies in Coachella Valley (CODA). Other areas of special interest for the Indio salinity study were nearby managed aquifer...

Two tributary watersheds¬ Cottonwood Creek and Little Dry Creek¬ to the greater San Joaquin watershed, in California’s Central Valley were assessed for sediment and flow dynamics, between water years (Oct. 1 to Sept. 30) 2011 and 2019. The two systems deliver suspended sediment to the San Joaquin River below Friant Dam, California. Because these two creeks are directly down river of Friant Dam, they become the most upstream source of sediment to the San Joaquin River below Friant Dam. Thus, is it important to assess their contribution to the San Joaquin system. Flow from each creek watershed, along with the San Joaquin River, was compared to continuously measured water surface elevations to quantify flow direction...

The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region is the most water-scarce region with only two percent of the global average annual rainfall, hence underground aquifers are the major source of water. The need to improve water productivity and increase aquifer storage and recovery (ASR) is driving the efforts for this acceleration of aquifer storage and recovery project. The objective was to model runoff in the study area using multi-source satellite data and identify regions of runoff retention and recharge. Daily runoff is simulated using a saturation excess principle with the VegET model (Senay 2008). It is a spatially explicit (500m grid cell), one-dimensional root-zone water balance model that is driven by precipitation,...

One of the determinants of runoff is the occurrence of excess rainfall events where rainfall rates exceed the infiltration capacity of soils. To help understand runoff risks, we calculated the probability of excess rainfall events across the Hawaiian landscape by comparing the probability distributions of projected rainfall frequency and land cover-specific infiltration capacity. We characterized soil infiltration capacity based on different land cover types (bare soil, grasses, and woody vegetation) and compared them to the frequency of large rainfall events under current and future (pseudo-global warming) climate scenarios. Here we provide two rasters of excess rainfall for current (2002-2012) and future (2090-2099)...

We created a comprehensive estimate of potential distribution for a subset of 17 ecosystem modifying invasive plants (EMIPs) in Hawaiʻi. This work uses methods that integrate a wide set of data sources including agency and citizen science data, but perhaps more importantly, the integration of regional and global distribution information for these species. We developed transferable and comparable general species distribution models (SDMs) at global and regional scales based on a minimum set of biologically plausible predictors. We built three sets of ensemble species distribution models (SDMs) for each species. We first built global and regional ensemble distribution models for each species. Then, to create a comprehensive...

Collection consist of vertebrates featuring stratigraphic and spatial data. Data is primarily type fossils from the USGS Denver vertebrate Catalog created and maintained by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Data were collected by paleontologist Dr. G. Edward Lewis during his years of service within the USGS Paleontology And Stratigraphy Branch. His catalogs were converted into digital form, Excel and Filemaker Pro database. The Catalog is 1122 fossil localities. His supplementary data has been added whenever possible - sources field map locality points, E&R files with enhanced faunal lists, as well as formal publications. For the complete traditional dataset, please contact Kevin Mckinney (kcmckinney@usgs.gov)....

We integrated recent climate model projections developed for the State of Hawai’i with current climatological datasets to generate updated regionally defined bioclimatic variables. We derived updated bioclimatic variables from new projections of baseline and future monthly minimum, mean, and maximum temperature (Tmin, Tmean, Tmax) and mean precipitation (Pmean) data at 250 m resolution. We used observation-based data for the baseline bioclimatic variables from the Rainfall Atlas of Hawai’i. We used the most up-to-date dynamically downscaled future projections based on the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model from the International Pacific Research Center (IPRC) and the National Center for Atmospheric Research...

This data release provides multi-element data for drill core samples from the Mesoproterozoic Nonesuch Formation and Copper Harbor Conglomerate at the Copperwood copper deposit, Michigan, USA. Gold, platinum, and palladium data were collected by fire assay; copper and silver were collected by assay; and other elements were collected by inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) or inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) following a digestion that used hydrochloric, nitric, perchloric and hydrofluoric acids. The Copperwood copper deposit is a sediment-hosted stratiform copper deposit in the Presque Isle Syncline of the upper peninsula of Michigan. The deposit has a 2018 mineral...
