The dataset consists of two csv files one for adult snakes and one for captive-reared juvenile snakes. The data contains start times (when snakes entered the study) and end times (when snakes died or were censored from the study) for survival analysis. The data also contains general information about the individual snakes (id, snout-vent length, treatment group, whether or not they were translocated), sex (juveniles only since adults were all female), surface activity (and data needed to calculate surface activity), and average distance moved between telemetry resighting. Observations (reduced to detected/not detected) of 45 vertebrate species (seven mammals, seven amphibians, and 31 reptiles) across Southern California pitfall sampling projects conducted between 1995 through 2015. Habitat patch locations of every pitfall sampling project presented in a shapefile. Habitat patches were measured based on the size when pitfall sampling began within each. Sampling projects within the same geographic area may have different sized patches based on date of project sampling and if patch erosion occurred. Conversion and fragmentation of wildlife habitat often leads to smaller and isolated populations and can reduce a species’ ability to disperse across the landscape. The Mogollon Narrowheaded gartersnake (Thamnophis rufipunctatus) and the Northern Mexican gartersnake (Thamnophis eques megalops) are both listed as Threatened under the Federal Endangered Species Act. Both species have a strong association with aquatic habitats, and these habitats have been highly altered from impoundments, land-use changes, and the introduction and spread of non-native aquatic species, which have contributed to declines in Arizona and New Mexico over the last 30-40 years. These data represent incidental observations of western pond turtles (Emys [Actinemys] marmorata) collected by the U.S. Geological Survey, Western Ecological Research Center, at Point Reyes National Seashore and Golden Gate National Recreation Area between 1993 and 2014. These data do not have associated survey effort, and are intended to represent incidental observations, rather than a random, systematic, or exhaustive survey for western pond turtles. The data include turtle location, observation date, and observer information.

This database contains demographic and movement variables for 158 adult Agassiz's desert tortoises (Gopherus agassizii) translocated from the National Training Center (NTC), Fort Irwin, in the central Mojave Desert, California, in spring of 2008 and monitored through fall of 2018. The tortoises, fitted with radio transmitters, were translocated to plots south of Fort Irwin and followed monthly until fall of 2018, when transmittered were removed, and the project was ended. The database consists of unique identification numbers of the tortoises, sex and size, dates, details of locations, and status of the tortoises. These data represent the results of trapping efforts for native northwestern pond turtles (Actinemys marmorata) and non-native red-eared sliders (Trachemys scripta elegans) in wetlands and irrigation canals in agricultural regions of the Sacramento Valley in 2018 and the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta in 2019.
