This data release provides quantitative whole rock geochemical results from The Geysers vapor-dominated geothermal field in California. The concentrations of major elements are reported in oxide weight percent by wavelength dispersive x-ray fluorescence (WDXRF), the concentrations for sixty elements are reported in elemental weight percent (pct) or parts per million (ppm) from inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry-mass spectrometry ICP-OES-MS analysis, mercury is reported in ppm by cold vapor atomic absorption spectrometry (CVAAS), and ammonium in ppm from automated colorimetry analysis. This data release provides semiquantitative mineralogy results from X-ray diffraction (XRD) analyses of mineral scales from The Geysers vapor-dominated geothermal field in California. The mineral species and their abundances are reported in weight percent and values have been normalized to total 100 percent for each sample. The X-ray diffraction results show that the mineral samples from the wellheads are primarily composed of ammonium (NH4+) sulfate minerals and sassolite B(OH)3, whereas sulfide minerals such as cinnabar and pyrite are the most abundant minerals observed in the power plants. This dataset includes hourly stream and air temperature data from 124 sites throughout the Northern Great Basin region of SE Oregon. Data loggers were deployed June through September of 2016 and downloaded each subsequent summer through 2021. The SE_OR_Stream_Temps and SE_OR_Air_Temps files contain temperature data (in C°) by logger serial number and site for the study period. Observations and subtle shifts of vegetation communities in Lake Erie have USGS researchers concerned about the potential for Grass Carp to alter these vegetation communities. Broad-scale surveys of vegetation using remote sensing and GIS mapping, coupled with on-the-ground samples in key locations will permit assessment of the effect Grass Carp may have already had on aquatic vegetation communities and establish baseline conditions for assessing future effects. Existing aerial imagery was used with object-based image analysis to detect and map aquatic vegetation in the eastern basin of Lake Erie.

This dataset consists of 42 magnetotelluric (MT) stations collected in 2017 in the Northwest Geysers, CA and 534 gravity stations collected in 2017 and 2019. The U.S. Geological Survey acquired these data as part of a project to image the heat source in the Northwest Geysers. Support was from the U.S. Geological Survey's Volcano Hazards Program.
