The U.S. Inland Creel and Angler Survey Catalog (CreelCat) contains data compiled from 14,729 creel and angler surveys conducted by state natural resource management agencies (including Washington DC and Puerto Rico) in inland waters across the United States. Data are contained in eight .csv files which contain information about survey characteristics (Survey_Data.csv), angler effort (AngEffort_Data.csv), catch and harvest (FishDataCompiled.csv), angler demographics (Demographic_Data.csv), angler preferences (AngPrefDataCompiled.csv), taxonomic classifications (Taxa_Data.csv), issues with catch and harvest (Fish_Attribution_Issues.csv), and issues with angler preference (AngPref_Attribution_Issues.csv), as well...

This section of the data release includes core images in the format of photos (JPG) that have been compressed into a zipped file (2018LakePowellCoring_CorePhotos.zip). It is Part 4 (of four) in this data release and contains images of the cleaned archival half from split cores as they appeared immediately after splitting (late March and early April 2019). Each photo includes a ruler (in centimeters) and X-Rite ColorChecker Classic color correction card that may be used for corrections. Drillhole information, such as location and total recovery, are outlined in “Part 1 – Drillhole information from the 2018 coring project in Lake Powell, Utah” (2018LakePowellCoring_DrillholeInfo.csv) of this data release. Each drillhole...

Federally owned and managed public lands occupy approximately 30 percent of the land area of the United States, and anywhere from 50 percent to more than 80 percent of the land area of many of the western states. Determining the appropriate use of these lands involves balancing objectives related to economic, recreational, and conservation interests. This paper examines established and emerging conflicts within and across these objectives through both a narrative discussion of specific topics and a series of case studies. The authors find that new challenges, including pressures to devote portions of public lands to renewable energy project development and the multifaceted threats presented by climate change, will...

This is a vector line coverage file showing the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail in the Lander and Rawlins Field Offices. The coordinates for this dataset were collected using Global Positioning System (GPS) technology. Volunteers, using a Trimble ProXL receiver, mapped the trail in the summer of 2001 by walking and driving the trail segments. As this is a "new" trail, some segments did not exist as a feature on the ground, so the volunteers marked the trail with carsonite signs and mapped these segments also.

This map shows current and near-term recreation development within the ecoregion. Input datasets used in the geospatial modeling for these datasets are also included, which are mainly attributes for metrics for several types of recreation (OHV, hiker, biker, camper, etc.). This dataset contains values on the potential number of visitors via in year ~2008 who are hikers/cyclists. This assumes a "push" factor of the number of recreationists is equal to 20.9% of population in the CBR/MBR region, which is the average participation rate of off-road recreation usage of both metro and non-metro residents of AZ, CA, NV, and UT from the National survey on recreation and the environment. Cordell et al. 2008. Visitation is assume to decline in half with each 1 hour of travel time.
This dataset contains values on the potential number of visitors via Off-Highway Vehicle (in year ~2030) who are "rock hounders" -- i.e. visiting/collecting around mines and such. This assumes a "push" factor of the number of recreationists is equal to 20.9% of population in the CBR/MBR region, which is the average participation rate of off-road recreation usage of both metro and non-metro residents of AZ, CA, NV, and UT from the National survey on recreation and the environment. This feature class represents the point features that show the physical locations of BLM National Recreation Sites. The general types of recreation point features targeted by this feature class include information center sites, water-based sites, overnight sites, day use sites, restrooms, water access, recreational access, parking areas, airplane landing strips, etc. This dataset is based on an interim data standard and will be republished in the future. This dataset is a subset of the official national dataset, containing features and attributes intended for public release and has been optimized for online map service performance. The Implementation Guide represents the official national dataset from which this...
Areas established by the Legislature for management of forest, recreational and historical purposes; to protect and preserve natural habitat for fish and/or wildlife and special restrictions not specifically tied to any of the previously mentioned purposes. This shape file characterizes the geographic representation of land parcels within the State of Alaska contained by the Legislatively Designated Area category. It has been extracted from data sets used to produce the State status plats. This data set includes cases noted on the digital status plats up to one day prior to data extraction. Each feature has an associated attribute record, including a Land Administration System (LAS) file-type and file-number which...

This dataset was extracted from National Landscape Conservation System designated trails and rivers of the Western US (http://app.databasin.org/app/pages/datasetPage.jsp?id=6df06e8872ea42368a386e448b8d5d59). That dataset was a composite of several datasets sent to CBI from the BLM. Descriptions below. 1. National Historic Trails in Alaska for which BLM has some administrative management responsibility. 2. National Scenic Trails for which BLM has some administrative management responsibility. Trails on non-BLM lands are sometimes included. 3.National Historic Trails for which BLM has some administrative management responsibility. Trails on non-BLM lands are sometimes included.
This dataset depicts land-based recreation areas. Due to a major lack of available data regarding intensive recreation areas, this dataset only contains open OHV areas on the Kanab Field Office (BLM).
