This raster depicts the percentage of lithological the hydraulic conductivity (in micrometers per second) of surface or near surface geology. We derived these rasters by calculating the average conductivity for each map unit in combined surficial-bedrock geologic maps. We used state geologic maps (Preliminary Integrated Geologic Map Databases for the United States, Open File Reports 2004-1355, 2005-1305, 2005-1323, 2005-1324, 2005-1325, 2005-1351, and 2006-1272), which depict surficial geology instead of bedrock when the surficial layers are sufficiently deep. For the state maps that do not incorporate surficial geology (i.e., midwestern states), we overlaid surficial geologic map units with thicknesses greater...
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration, working with members of the scientific community, has determined that early manned lunar exploration will be oriented primarily to investigations in the geosciences. Exploration by man on the lunar surface will, therefore be geological, geophysical, geochemical, geochemical, and surveying in nature, and will be directed to the physical and chemical characteristics of the lunar crust, and to measurements that will furnish data pertinent to understanding the physics of the Moon. Scientific exploration of the Moon will provide information fundamental to understanding the origin and composition of the Solar System, and engineering data important to the design of specific...

Time series electromagnetic induction-log (TSEMIL) datasets are collected from polyvinyl chloride (PVC) cased or uncased monitoring wells to evaluate changes in water conductivity over time. TSEMIL datasets consist of a series of individual electromagnetic induction logs collected at a frequency of months or years that have been compiled into a dataset by eliminating small uniform offsets in bulk conductivity between logs likely caused by minor variations in calibration. At depths where water conductivity is not changing through time, each log is typically within about ±15 mS/m of the median of the dataset at any given depth, which is within the stated repeatability specifications of the probe (Mount Sopris Instrument...

The Water Resources Data System is a clearinghouse of hydrological and climatological data for the State of Wyoming. Land Slide data can be downloaded on a County basis via this interface.
This workbook summarizes geophysical data for each lithology contained within the USGS Preliminary Integrated Geologic Map Databases for the United States (Open File Reports 2004-1355, 2005-1305, 2005-1323, 2005-1324, 2005-1325, 2005-1351, and 2006-1272). The summarized geophysical data contained in the “Lith Summary” spreadsheet (tab) is used to translate lithologies in state geologic maps into maps of continuous physical characteristics (see Geochemical and Geophysical Characteristics of the Conterminous United States, http://dx.doi.org/10.5066/F7X0653P). Full details of the data are provided in the “ReadMe” spreadsheet at the beginning of the workbook.

Note: this data release is currently being revised and is temporarily unavailable. This data release is a compilation of the locations of airborne geophysical surveys in the United States. The inventory documents public airborne geophysical surveys primarily flown by or contracted by the USGS from 1943 to present. In addition, surveys from the State of Alaska, Department of Natural Resources, Division of Geological and Geophysical Surveys (DGGS): Airborne GeophysWeb, the Bureau of Land Management, the Department of Energy and other state agencies have also been included. The surveys have contributed to studies under USGS programs including Water, Geologic Mapping, Minerals, Energy, Environmental Health, Ecosystems,...

This raster depicts the percentage of lithological the compressive strength, measured as uniaxial compressive strength (in megaPascals, MPa) of surface or near surface geology. We derived these rasters by calculating the average strength for each map unit in combined surficial-bedrock geologic maps. This web site is provided by the United States Geological Survey's (USGS) Earthquake Hazards Program as part of our effort to reduce earthquake hazard in the United States. We are part of the USGS Geologic Discipline and are the USGS component of the congressionally established, multi-agency National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program (NEHRP). The USGS participates in the NEHRP with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and the National Science Foundation (NSF). In the 2004 reauthorization of NEHRP by Congress, NIST has been given the lead role to plan and coordinate this national effort to mitigate earthquake losses by developing and applying...

This collection houses well logs and construction data for water wells, exploration holes, gas storage structures, geotechnical borings, etc. The collection includes but is not limited to: drilling logs, down-hole geophysical logs, and striplogs (lithologic and stratigraphic logs produced by the IGS). This collection represents data from paper files that complement our cuttings/core collections. Together, they comprise much of the basic, raw geologic data for the state.

This is the collection of original paper gamma-ray logs, copies and other items that are associated with the gamma-ray logs housed at the Indiana Geological Survey. They are stored in 12 file cabinets. This represents all of the original paper copies since 1978 when the collection began. Each log can be found filed in the original file, used mainly as a master file, as well as by county, the working file. The paper logs have been digitized made available to the public at https://igws.indiana.edu/borehole-logs in .las and .pdf format.
