This dataset consists of points representing selected well site locations and water-level measurements used by Lopes and Allander (2009) to develop autumn 2006 groundwater-level altitude contours for Smith and Mason Valleys, and the lower Walker River basin, Nevada. Since the publication of Lopes and Allander (2009), the positional coordinates and land-surface altitudes at selected well sites used to develop autumn 2006 groundwater-level contours in that report were updated as part of a 2022 U.S. Geological Survey study (Davies and Naranjo, 2022).

This data set consists of polylines representing groundwater-level altitude contours, 1982, for middle Humboldt River basin, north-central Nevada as published on plate 2, figure 3 in the U.S. Geological Survey Water-Resources Investigations Report 98-4209 titled "Hydrogeologic framework and ground-water levels, 1982 and 1996, middle Humboldt River basin, north-central Nevada," 1999. A subset of the contours were published as part of a larger data set representing water-table contours for Nevada (Buto and others, 2006). The remaining contours have been added to complete this data set. This data release consists of a Microsoft® Access database and Microsoft® Excel workbook that contain water-level data and other hydrologic information for wells in and near areas of underground nuclear testing at the Nevada Test Site (currently the Nevada National Security Site). The database provides information for each well (well construction, borehole lithology, units contributing water to the well, and general site remarks) and associated water-level measurements (measurement source, status, method, accuracy, and specific water-level remarks). Additionally, the database provides hydrograph descriptions that document the water-level history and describe and interpret the water-level hydrograph for each well....

These contours represent static groundwater levels based on depth-to-water measurements made at 165 monitoring wells during water years 2016-2020 in Smith Valley and Mason Valley, Nevada. For each monitoring well, the median groundwater-level altitude during the five-year period (2016-2020) was used for developing the groundwater-level contours. Depth-to-water measurements were collected by the USGS and the Nevada Division of Water Resources (NDWR).

Two-dimensional variably saturated heat and flow models (VS2DH) were used to examine seepage rates along the Birdspring drainage for the purpose of exploring the drainage channel for use in an managed aquifer recharge project. Six transect models were separately calibrated to sediment temperatures observed during episodic runoff events during water year 2017 and 2018. The models were calibrated to unsteady flow conditions, then estimates of seepage losses were made for steady state conditions assuming stage conditions associated with 4 cubic feet per second of imported water. This USGS data release contains all of the input and output files for the simulations described in the associated model documentation report...

This dataset represents one of three derived outlets or "pour points" for each 12-digit hydrologic unit (HU12) in the Watershed Boundary Dataset (WBD) snapshot delivered with NHDPlus V2.1. The three related pour point locations, each delivered in a stand-alone dataset, are: "from" (fpp) and "to" (tpp) points that identify the location where flow leaves the HU12 polygon based on a flow direction raster, and a third "vector pour point" (vpp) selected "upstream" used to identify flow confluences near the "from" and "to" pour point locations. The points are derived from the NHDPlus V2.1 flow direction rasters and the WBD snapshot delivered with NHDPlus V2.1. This metadata document describes the "vector" pourpoints (vpp).

This USGS data release represents supplemental tabular data for an annual groundwater discharge by evapotranspiration (ET) from areas of spring-fed riparian vegetation, Stump Spring and Hiko Springs, Clark County, Nevada, 2016-18. The raw ET dataset contained multiple data gaps that were simulated and gap-filled with the water-level model utility in SeriesSEE, a USGS developed Microsoft Excel® addin. Continuous time-series data, including net radiation, sensible-heat flux, latent-heat flux, and ground-heat flux, from before and after the data gap(s) were used to simulate turbulent fluxes with multivariate regressions and the gramma transform, used for latent heat gaps after precipitation events. ET data were gap...
