The dataset consists of a shapefile of measurements of surface velocity magnitude and direction at the Colorado River at Compact Point near Lees Ferry, AZ, on March 18, 2021. The dataset contains approximately 1.2 km of river length. The surface velocity measurements were made by applying Large-Scale Particle Image Velocimetry (LSPIV) techniques, using overlapping videos collected by small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS). Total time to capture all videos was less than one hour, and all frames (except frame 1, see Process Steps below) from all videos were used. Additional attributes, including divergence, curl, shear, and strain, were calculated from the surface velocity measurements and are included in the dataset.

This dataset contains absolute-gravity data collected by the USGS Southwest Gravity Program, a collaborative effort of the Arizona, California, and New Mexico Water Science Centers to monitor and model groundwater-storage change. Data were collected following the methods in "Procedures for Field Data Collection, Processing, Quality Assurance and Quality Control, and Archiving of Relative and Absolute-Gravity Surveys", U.S. Geological Survey Techniques and Methods book 2, chapter D4 . All data are reviewed and approved. Additional gravity data, including network-adjusted relative- and absolute-gravity data, may be available in ScienceBase Data Releases.Gravity data are provided as two files:sgp_agdb_stations_YYYY-MM-DD.csv...

Groundwater budgets were compiled from 2002 to 2012 and 2020 for the Sierra Vista Subwatershed for the Upper San Pedro Partnership. In 2012, the annual groundwater budget was estimated to be about -5,000 acre-ft per year (negative values indicate a deficit, where more water is removed from the system than is being returned; positive values indicate a surplus, where more water is entering the system than is being removed). In 2020 the Sierra Vista Subwatershed groundwater budget deficit has decreased to about -3,600 acre-ft per year. This is the smallest deficit calculated since the Upper San Pedro Partnership started to track the groundwater budget beginning in 2002. The total water budget uncertainty is estimated...
This data release contains hydrologic datasets used in U.S. Geological Survey Scientific-Investigations Report 2023-5131 that are not available from other sources such as the National Water Information System (NWIS). The hydrologic datasets include groundwater levels, spring and stream discharge measurements, and lengths of perennial streamflow reaches, collected within the Las Cienegas National Conservation Area.
Tumacácori National Historical Park (TUMA) was established in 1908 to protect, preserve, and communicate the history of the old Spanish and O’odham mission church. In 2002, Congress expanded the Park’s purpose and mission, increasing the Park’s area to include more than 1 mile of the Santa Cruz River and its associated riparian area. As part of the USGS–NPS Water-Quality Partnership, a three year investigation was conducted to provide TUMA with a better understanding of the spatial and temporal variability of Escherichia coli (E. coli) concentrations and sources within and upstream of the Park. The supplemental data release includes stream-stage datasets collected by the USGS using pressure transducers and effluent-discharge...

Dataset includes rock and soil gas carbon and strontium values. Rock samples were collected from outcrop locations as well as from drill cuttings. Rock type associations were made based on the DeWitt and others (2008) geology map. Soil gas samples were collected from 4 inch augered soil core holes completed to different depths at three separate sampling locations. Material at the bottom of the soil core hole was collected and analyzed in addition to soil gas for some samples. The augered soil cores were backfilled with two trowel scoops of material removed from soil core then two scoops of clean silica sand were added to the soil core hole. A stainless steel tube was then added to the hole and 10 more scoops...

This dataset contains absolute-gravity measurements made using an A-10 absolute gravity meter (Micro-g Lacoste, Inc.) in 2019 in Pinal County, Arizona. Measurements were made at a total of 19 different stations used by the Arizona Department of Water Resources (ADWR) to monitor aquifer-storage changes. Data are presented in tabular and spatial vector (point) form, including relevant parameters used for processing. Data were output by g software (Micro-g Lacoste, Inc.) version 9.12.04.23. A correction for laser-frequency drift was applied, based on regular calibration of the HeNe laser used in the A-10 against an iodine-stabilized laser.

This dataset includes gravity observations collected on the Coconino Plateau, Arizona, from 2015 to 2019 and reductions that were used to arrive at the gravity residual reported in the associated publication (Wildermuth, 2022). Relative-gravity surveys were carried out using a ZLS Burris relative-gravity meter. Absolute gravity values were taken from the closest NGS stations and relative-gravity differences were combined with nearby absolute gravity values using a least-squared network adjustment, as implemented in the software Gravnet (Hwang, C., Wang, C., Lee, L., 2002. Adjustment of relative gravity measurements using weighted and datum-free constraints. Comput. Geosci. 28, 1005–1015). Additional information...

The dataset contains GPS survey data from two surveys conducted after a flow event on September 19, 2018, at the USGS streamgage 09487000 - Brawley Wash near Three Points, AZ. The first survey, on October 1, 2018, documents cross section geometry and high-water marks from the flow event in the reach downstream from the gage. The second survey, on January 31, 2019, documents additional high-water marks and provides ground control for a small unmanned aircraft system survey. The surveys were performed using Leica GS14 RTK GPS equipment, S/N base-2806898, S/N rover-2806883.

Observations of irrigated agricultural land within the Willcox Groundwater Basin in Arizona. Digitized field boundaries were used to locate crops for in situ verification twice in 2022; crop verification occurred first on May 17th and again on August 26th. Field boundaries were digitized from U.S. Department of Agriculture, National Agricultural Imagery Program County Mosaic 2021 imagery for Arizona and supplemented with Landsat and Sentinel2 imagery collections accessed via the Sentinel Hub, Sentinel Playground (https://apps.sentinel-hub.com/sentinel-playground). Satellite images were also used to identify the length of the growing season and crop condition. Water withdrawals were calculated using the modified...

Continuous slope-area sensors are installed at four cross sections downstream from Flume 6 operated by the Agricultural Research Service (ARS) at the Walnut Gulch Experimental Watershed. The CSA reach was installed to test the CSA method and determine channel roughness using the known discharge measured by Flume 6. A flow event occurred on July 28, 2017. A GPS survey was conducted on August 2, 2017, to document the CSA pin elevations, cross section geometry at the CSA sensor locations, and high-water marks from the flow event.

This dataset represents the network-adjusted results of relative- and absolute-gravity surveys. Relative-gravity surveys were carried out using a ZLS Coporation Burris relative-gravity meter. The effect of solid Earth tides and ocean loading were removed from the data. Instrument drift was removed by evaluating gravity change during repeated measurements at one or more base stations, or between absolute-gravity stations. Absolute-gravity surveys were carried out using a Micro-g LaCoste, Inc. A-10 absolute-gravity meter. The vertical gravity gradient was assumed to be -3 microGal/cm at each absolute-gravity site. Relative-gravity differences and absolute-gravity data were combined using a least-squares network adjustment,...
